240v mig welder... ah one of the last major road blocks over come!

Might not ever actually build a rally car.. but once I get my garage rebuild finished I can at least start building a car again..

HAPPY BOY!

Cheers

Coming from someone who burned their house to the ground, I keep ALOT of fire extinguishers around. And you've never been drunk and stoned working on a rally car? That's not what I hear smiling smiley

It's been 3 years since I've welded with a mig.. so you might want to wait for me to get practiced up a bit again smiling smiley

I'll definitely try and get some free time before the holidays as I think I might have 2 weeks off.

Do you have 240v in your garage?

Cheers

I just got the Clarke 130EN.....only 120V....but I'll never have to weld anything thicker than 3/16ths.

on a waiting list for the local welding class, but have some random steel laying around and a roll of .023 wire and some 75/25 argon/co2 gas and will play around with it next weekend. grinning smiley

nothing like using high amp electricity to melt metal to join two pieces of metal to feel like a man! <insert gorilla grunt here>

If even I can weld on japanese sheet metal with 030 wire than you can too. Get ALOT of tips, they get contaminated when you're just getting used to it.

Welding and chopping wood, either with an axe or a chainsaw.

You should put a sub panel in your garage.. I did a few weeks back and am loving it.

I'm running a 60A panel with 2 15A lines into the garage as well. That should do me for a while I figure. Unfortunately, I believe it's all off a 100A panel.. I might have to run something back to the 200A panel at some point. (I've got lots of panelssmiling smiley

But if you want to make a cord, the welder has the 50A 240V plug style (only draws 20A I believe though)

I'll definitely drop by at some point.. I'm trying to get my garage in shape first tho (avoiding the oil paint fumes at the moment).

Does your garage have heat? smiling smiley

Cheers
