Well, I seem to remember driving figure eights in the parking lot of the hotel in Hinton, Alberta in Pat Richard's car one time. I think you were supposed to do it for half an hour, which seems like a long time to be doing figure eights in a parking lot. Tends to get you noticed. "Well you see, officer..."

My line for tomorrow morning... going to start at the food bank ,autox sized parking lot with 6 cars in it max ever! then its off to my companies lot if that fails at the price of mocking at work and comments over a small incident with a wrx and some cars a few years back by a certain... well... ya

Just take the paper that comes with the diff along, if you have it, which has the instructions right there in plain engrish, so you can show the donut guy proof. I can make a copy of mine if you don't have one, and there's KAAZ's web page also.. http://www.kaazusa.com/techhelp2.html

It always helps to ask permission from the location of such antics, also...

I'm going to have to do this in the spring, but I'm slightly conflicted.

It's going to be a brand new engine rebuild this spring, in my '85 corolla (or Toiletta Commode, depending on your choice of vocabulary), So the engine needs to be broken in, and so does the new diff.

Will the diff be ok if I break the engine in first, THEN go do some figure 8's? Will the seating of the rings be adversely affected by running at 20mph for 30 minutes to break in the diff?

Or hsould I get a spare 3rd member and use that for breaking in the engine, then install the KAAZ and break that in properly?

20 mph, screw that! Get both done at once an vary the speed 20 - 80 mph while doing figure eights. Don't be a pansy!

Yeah, I know... but I don't have a big enough parking lot around for those speeds and the cops already give me a hard time. Of course, I could probably get the rear tires spinning at those speeds, but then I'd be out a fresh set of tires by the time I'm done...

Actually, kaaz says to go to 20km/h, not 20mph, so that's even slower. 20 km/h = 12.4274238 mph. d'oh! that's like idling almost.

They also strenuously mention to NOT use synthetic lube for the diff.

I called to ask about the oils.. the man said anything any GM approved trans oil will work as long as its not synthetic. Pretty cool and much cheaper than Kaaz oil.

When I had talked to Kaaz they said the same thing. Something about too much slip between the friction plates. My understanding was that a friction modifier should be used as well.
