Wheel stud size??? Cosworth Group N

Anyone know it (JVL, Skye, et. al.)? Getting some custom spacers machined to fit my Compomotives and want to get proper studs in the spacers.

Jesus, I am doing some, too. How much have you been quoted for the bolt cicle?

OEM junk is 12mm. You should be shifting over to 14, and longer with the lead or nubbinn. till you go to 14 with the 19mm sleeve at the base.
Go LONGER Thru the original flange and the spacer, give her a zap on the backside just for safety sake.
make the spacer be a spacer, not a carrier of stud and a spacer, just a spacer.

We have a Haas CNC lathe and CNC mill sitting down at the shop. So, I just have to pay for the material and maybe a twelve pack of beer while we're creating the program on the mill. Just need to find and source the longer studs, but figured the size and thread pitch were important?

Or, there is a place online that sells sets of four out of 6061 for $100 for up to 25.4 mm. I test fit my Compomotive on the front on Friday. the wheel is about 3 mm from the shock body and will definitely rub on the spring seats.

Yeah probably. I made a bunch using M14 bolts where I wanted to have rolled theads rather than cut threads, sos I chucked them in the handy lathe and carved the heads down and turned them a bit at the start to have the nubbinn or lead to make the nuts spin on easier.
M14 x 1.5 is the normal size for gravel cars whn it's allowed and just happenens to be VW bus (and 914 VW/Porsche) nut size and GMC pick up and van after mid 90s.

Come on who wants longer and how long??
Grant, can you guys do the bolt circlers in the alloy hats?
I have the things done, 28 and I need the 4 on 4 1/4 Ford PCD, the disc 7" PCD and a couple of M6 coutersunk for securing the thing to the hub.

We should be able to. I'll check with Steve and make sure he's willing. He does most of the machine operation. Or Brian.
With this program we don't even have to calculate the points to program into the mill for PCD stuff.

ARP sells a pretty stout looking set with the correct knurl dimensions that is either 2.5" or 3.25" length but is only M12 too.

I have broken the wancy ARP 12mm studs. All five of them at the same time twice. You will likely NOT find that to be amusing when it happens. I sure didn't. Don't use them.

Yeah, I was still hoping to find M14 ones that would work. The issue is finding ones long enough to work with 1" spacers and JVAB brake kit.

John V., check your email, I'm sending you something regarding this. I work 7 am until 10 pm the next 3 nights so don't have any time for phone until Friday.

And, does anyone running a Merkur need or want spacers? They will be drilled for M14 and will maintain the hubcentric ring. I'm getting the material tomorrow or Thursday so speak up if you do. Probably around $120-140 per set of four for 10 mm to 25.4 mm. If you can find something cheaper for retail let me know! I'd rather buy an off the shelf part than 40 pounds of aluminum and two nights working on the lathe and mill.

Several companies advertizing in Focus Fanatic Mag list spacers, the Focus has the same bolt pattern, but I don't know if any will work for our purposes. Could one just redrill the spacer for M14? I haven't seen in on the newsstands recently either. When I get home tonight I'll remember to look and post what I find.

John- couldn't you just knock the studs out of a spindle/flange and use that as a jig for drilling the hats? Or would there be too much slop?

Grant, I have the material already, in fact we've chooped a bit off so Kevvi Hoikansainalainenenen can make some for his 240.
So lets use our noodles and this Inter-snet thing and save.

I can carve them , you find out abot the bolt circle, OK
I could send them down together with the 28 bells.
Seattle Scott, Skye, me, Paddy, maybe Colin Mc Cleery, Andrew Steer in Nude Hampster,
and a couple or three sets for the shelf.

And Spokane Scott, since I think he will be getting suspenders soon.

And two sets done at 5 on 100.

Now as for thickness.
The bell face thickness was purposely left a bit thick to help ofset AND to have material to face off when you all get Sapphire front hubs as you know you're supposed to. I can imagine needing more than maybe 15mm max. That would make a ET40 wheel like a ET25.
More will create problems I think, like you BETTER have already hammered flat the inner lips of the arches. Poor Skye's brilliant body man didn't before the car got painted so now there's a problem.

So you up for drilling a sheet load of holes?? (or swappin in the part 60 times----oh so much work this CNC!!)

Now as to studs.
Bolts tend to have somewhere around 2.5 times their diameter threaded so I have 8 M14 bolts modded downstairs, the next sep is to drill out some hubs and press them in and check distances.

In aticipation I have gathered about 205 VW wheel nuts, so we have wheel nuts enough to go round.

As to price I can't imagine the spacers costing more than about $5 in material and $7-$8 in machine cost. so finger a price to do the holes (It should cost ouit at maybe $5-6 per spacer, and maybe $6-8 per bell realistically-- I've checked, its just getting the things IN and done in less than 3 months.)

Let's get cracking cause I still have to invent caliper carriers.

Our mill doesn't have Z axis, so we have to manually drill, but it will move to all the right points for us. Okay, so let's say $5 per bell to drill the holes. How many needed for the rotor attachment? We could start on them asap and get at least two back to you right away for starting on the caliper carrier and probably finish the lot in less than 2 weeks (we only have nights and weekends to work on them, or else it probably be like two days!)

For the spacers, I measured around a 5.75" diameter on the Compomotive (didn't have time to take a wheel off) so figured on a 6" diameter 6061 rod. At approx. 35 lbs a foot, and $2.85 per pound cost we're looking in the $13-15 range for material per spacer. So I figured 5-10 per for machine/machinist costs. Still was cheaper than anything I've been able to find. They'd look like this one, and these (picture at bottom) are $70 per pair for 13mm spacers, more for larger. The fancy pants HKS or Eibach or whoever want $200 per pair!

What's the material thickness on the bells? Uhh. As in how much will they space it out.

I test fit my ET35 15X7 Compomotives and the wheel is about 3 mm from the shock housing. The spring seats are all the way up but would rub big time when lowered. This is with 205/65 Yoko A033 tires. Considered getting 185s for the front and 195 or 205s in the rear to make the spacer need less. But, it will be fairly easy to make the spacer smaller, compared to impossible to make it larger so I figured on start at 25.4mm.

So, you could send the 44 bells, a rotor or four (no need to send me 2 at a later date?) for test fitting, and an M14 stud and we could get started right away. Okay, I'm calling you tonight when I get off. What's the 5X100 one for? Subaru?

For wheel studs, the ARP ones are supposedly a direct fit, and have a knurl diameter of 0.509". They show for late GM and Chevy stuff. Is the truck stuff that's M14 the same knurl or are we drilling and welding for longer burlier studs?
