The log jam eases, BELLS ARE DONE
April 11, 2006 11:45PM
There are 28 shiney disc brake hats or bells sitting down stairs.
Skye
Seattle Scott
Paddy
Grant

maybe Colin Mc Cleery
Maybe Mothra

and ME! should be very happy.
Now its time to dust off the check-books for some fast and furious ordering of discs, calipers and pads, and brake lines.

Whos ready?
How the rest of the knuckles, some Cossie diffs, more Coswoth Garrett T3s and some headlights arrive tamale or the next day.

Only question now is what color to anodize the bells??

Ford Blue or Red. Red would look cool with the Blue and Green of the struts.

Rear caliper adapter yet?

As for me, I can give you a check when I'm up next week, but it won't be good until the 31st when I get paid again.

You should give us some ideas on money.
Calipers - $180
Rotors - $75
Bells - $85
Times 4 = $1360 - $85 deposit = $1275

The deposit on the calipers was a lot more than $85 (or at least mine was!).

I vote blue to keep everything semi-matched. Do the remaining ones in gold and charge $15 extra as 'premium' units.

I only made a deposit on the aluminum for the hats.

Oh, and I should have stated, two checks, one good now, one good on the 30th.

Rear caliper carrier?

It can be arranged, it'd suit that girly-girl theme you've been striving for in the dainty car and the tu-tu you wear.
Smooooooochies!!!

The fronts are US BRAKE F88 with 2 x 35mm and 2 times 44.5 which comes in at 2% more than the real live gravel spec GpA AP racing calipers which had 2 x 38mm and 2 x 41.2mm.
US Brakes doesn't make a F88 with 4 x 1.25" sos Is stinks we'll use Willwood there.
Front disc is a Willwood 11.75 cut down to our size which is about 11.25/283mm~ish x 1.25 front and it looks like there aren't really many calipers for 1" in USA so we'll go .810" x about 285mm.

Seems the rotors for front should be somewhat cheaper than the originally planned $65ish, but I'm going to be the one that cuts them down to our diameter rather than doing special order ones. I'll time the procedure and see how many minutes.

I called US Brake, which is a part of the AFCO group and talked about their inventory and they don't have all what we want on the shelf assembled just now but after a while we figured, since these sizes aren't the hot mover, that by swapping the crossover tubes and blleeders they could make REAR mount calipers out of allready done FRONT mount ones.
I'll get back to my supplier and check prices but I think the on line price of 189 is what youse guys will pay.
Rear calipwers are less, again not nailed down but maybe as low as 145.

Gotta buy a buncha hose and fittings, too.

Will making them rear mount complicate things when the time comes to replace a caliper?

Grant the front mount from one side is the rear mount of the other.
They're the same.
But different.
Easy.
(Only the crossover tube and bleeders are swapped around to protect the innocent.)
