So the welded VCD means a permanent, full time 50/50 torque split front/rear, right? In which case, the front end isn't very happy making tight turns. (I've heard it's rough on CVs.) It would make some sense on a mostly dirt car, but I was thinking about removing the front axles and running RWD.

If the VCD is spooled and the rear diff is welded up, the tcase inards become the weakest link, right?

Thanks Doivi.

so whats the overall concenus on this for a rwd car? Im pretty budgeted at this point and if welding it works great and wont kill you on any single paved stages or in transeit, then im down for it. Most stock equipped LSDs are crapped out after 20 or more years.

Nope, it means a permanent, full time speed equality. So if you have your front tires off the ground or something, 100% of the torque can go to the rear wheels, or vice versa.

50/50 torque split is an open diff.

so again, RWD welded diff. Not going to slaughter tires during transit? Im probably going to give it a whirl for a little while due to budgets.

The tires will be fine, it is just annoying, and the car will push bad in spirited driving on tarmac

Alex, proper set up on a LSD is so tight that it may as well be solid on gravel.
Al Kun's Volvo was welded at DooWops when i co-drove and it was fine even on transits and the 4 tarmac stages.

When are we 'spossed to get going on suspenders???
I had inserts on the shelf I ordered in anticipation but heard nary a peep so those are going to Nissan Sentra boys now.

I have another round of inserts coming up for cutting the tops, and have 22 tubes cut to length awaiting the OD threads so call me and get in line...spread the pain out!

trying to get money together mostly, divorce seems to have plenty of hidden costs... but thankfully that mess is about through. Ill have to see how the suspension pans out with the budget.

I decided to weld mine the other night. I think it turned out ok. It's a suby 4.11 BTW. Does anybody break rear axles with the welded setup?
