Brake master sizing...again

Let's say you had a saab...had yanked out the booster and wanted to insall dual masters. What sizes would you use, fr and rr? JVAB?

Thanks,

Whine...hell no. I like to poke the bear every once in a while and see what happens! smiling smiley

Ok, where I am is that I've pulled the booster off...that's it! I DID go around to a bunch of wretching yards way, way back and pull every god-dammed RX-7 caliper known to man off and haul them from house to house cause some crazy dude down in mASSachusets tolt me to...smiling smileysmiling smiley

But now I hear those don't fit. So other than that and hear about ovlov 240 rear calipers and see some wilwoods on Lukes' 99, nada.

So, let me start from the beginning...
first the earth cooled
then John and Jens were born
...
...
Then Mike wanted to build a saab 900 rally car that was cheap and fun.
Now that Mike is off the heavy drugs to make his knee boo-boo feel better, he wants to get back out into the gay-rage and work on his pos.
He sees some tilto dual masters on ebay and starts trying to find old JVAB emails and fails..
So he turns to the source. smiling smiley

OK MIKE!
listen:
On up to 87 vented rotor spinles/hubs you can mount up Willwood Superlite II by either drilling out the 7/16 holes on the ears of the calipers, or BETTER finding a threaded insert to reduce the theard from the sillili huge M14 to a reasonable 7/16 UNC or a M12 bolt and then a light chase of the drill.
Superlites are 4 x 1.75" pistons.

If you use Superlites, and I have some already been drilled out used on Diannes car in Stonehame for a couple of months, then you better get a master cylinder about .810 at least, maybe even a 1" master. I can supply.

I'd sell them for about 100 bucks each.

New is around 145.

If you want to get some calipers that are sized like the ones everybody else in the REAL world uses on gravel the Xratty boys will all be getting US Brakes F88i which are interchangeable with Superlites, same pad, same 3.5" c-c mounting but have pistons sized 1.375 and 1.75 vs the AP gravel calipers 4 x 1.5 or
2 x 1.5 and 2 x 1.625.

If you want top order those, again I can supply and they are about $190 each.
Then you would get a 0.7 or o.75 master for the fronts.

But we are always this way, we don't need to sniff no glue, I fink we (the elders) have Castor Oil, Molykote and Green Can Castrol Racing Oil contamination in our systems.

John, was this the one that smelled wonderful ?

I've seen Mobil 1 synthetic racing oil before. Can I be in the club? Yes, have some?

I will accept Mobil 1 as proper racing oil when I start drinking Keystone Lights and smoking Newport Ultra Lights, but that doesn't mean I am not using Mobil 1.

Y'all know that John preaches the Ford Motorsport prep books, right? Coz we can safely assume that they actually knew what they were doing, and achieved results with the same equipment that they give us the specs for, right?

So one day, I actually sat down and figured out exactly what kind of mechanical advantage they had with the brake system. Of course, I don't remember exactly what the piston sizes were (that's John's job) I do remember what the area ratio was for the front (total caliper piston area to MC piston area). It's about 40:1, with a 6:1 pedal lever ratio.
This translates to .783" MC for the 4x1.75" calipers,
or in my case (with the Mazda calipers), approx. a .625" MC.
