The tunnel mod for the v8 is like 10 by 14 its tiny and it has a nice little tiny tunnel
but the tank will be an ishue.

Stock tank, stock location or you get into the fuel cell issues. Just so ya know. You'll need to mod the floor for exhaust, no big deal but for rally it'll need tucked up a bit.

we will see soon I know the 05 newer are steel tanks. for a street car I
think I can mod part of the tank. For rally I think its going to be a fuel cell
I will have to reed the rules again on tanks.

You will definitely need to do something about the tank. The steel tanks cross the center line of the car making impossible to put a drive shaft in there. The plastic tanks on the earlier cars were smaller so that might work as a back dating option.

I am interested to see where you plan to run the exhaust. I do not think there is enough room in the tunnel for a drive shaft and an exhaust system. Most of the V8 cars just ran it under the floor but that would get destroyed in rally. The floors on my rally car have taken quite a beating and I know some of the other rally foci have had rocks tear through the floor in front of the fuel tank.

After reading the rules, I don't believe there is any restrictions on modifying the tunnel. None.

Stock firewall and tunnel entrance:

Modified tunnel entrance and firewall is still "stock":

Correct. The big issue will be fuel tank but William still needs to plan the tunnel mods ahead of time to make it efficient and profitable for him to do the swap.

That is in to a T if its a total pain in the ass my market will get cut in
half, the goal is to have any one with little to moderate fab skills install
this kit effectively and safely.

The better the skills, the more you can open up the car to be a top level
competition car, in road, rally and rally x.

Ya thats right!! smiling smiley I'm cool with anything but a plug. If we never see
what other have done we could be starting ten steps behind, Such
as seeing the v8 swap really insured me that the swap could be done
with less work than thought before seeing how little fire wall work
they had to do. But they did so much front frame work for the v8
it just dose not add up for what I want to do.

The exhaust has to exit behind somewhere, doesn't necessarily mean it has to pass under the car right? smiling smiley

needs a safari snorkel on the other side,
I'm guessing a few drinking smileydrinking smileydrinking smiley got that ball rolling

can we have the exhaust out the side of the car in front of the
rear wheels? If a fuel cell gos in that frees a ton of room up on
the passengers side and that might leave a easy spot to pop
it out. hmmm

You can build a second small tunnel paralleling the main tunnel just for the exhaust. Seamus Burke had Hooper do this on his Mk. II Escort so that it wouldn't get ripped off the car.

Exhaust needs to exit behind the seats at a minimum. I dislike side exiting exhaust for several reasons but mostly reliability. It's harder to hanger it properly, the exit pipe tends to get crushed from gravel smacking the crap out of it. It's also easy to collapse the exit from smacking a dirt bank. Then there is the increased sound/hearing loss potential.

Sube and Mitsu run the exhaust down the tunnel under the driveline, Ford used to with the AWD Tempo so it isn't hard just needs to be planned now. I think it would be easier for DIYrs to go that route rather than another tunnel under the floor. Also another tunnel could make seat mounting more difficult. Once behind the seats then there is more room for mufflers and such.

We did make a tunnel over the rear xmember on a couple old 510s to give them more room and less rock damage potential. I have a Focus here I'll try to rack tomorrow and look at with your kit in mind.
