i know the front wheel drive oriented 2.3 from mazda is the "MZR" but im pretty sure the B2300, Ranger is more "duratec" There was a few minor differences. I think MZR has variable valve timing.

seen different ignition stuff but in my eyes hell with the Mazda i just sold a
mzr for 700 they are going for 2000 when a focus 2.3 gos for 450 and 2.0
are 350 its a no brainier unless you have a ms3. I want to make a mix
match motor with my 2.0 in the car now 2.3 block and all 2.0 covers and stuff.
The 2.3 should not have much problem getting in the 250 hp range on pump gas.

what does the ranger oil look like? is it terrible for clearance? Also, since the 2.0 is much easier to come by is there a huge down side to it? The site you mentioned did have one 2.3 and its from a Ranger, but it has 300k on it and they still want 600 dollars. I suppose if i was going to swap pistons out it wouldn't matter to much. I also know the 2.3 would certainly keep me legal with Rally America. I do not have any idea of the Duratec 2.0 has anything to do with a mazda car.

"Will replace 3.35 gearset."

Anyone know if it will replace the far more common 3.50 or 4.0whatever gearsets?

Silly people think that a good V8 T5 is worth almost as much as a brand-new one (still just over $1000, right?). $370 gears plus $250 4-cyl transmission = much cheaper.

yeah it will.
And yeah people are insane. New are about 1200, $750 for used is psychotic.

car-part.com just use this whenever you need anything.
spalding is still the place I be if you wanted that motor and offered them core cash you could get it 200 bucks but they will get a 90000 and it will be the same 600 bucks.
