Call or e-mail the organizers, it may not be critical for you. I have never been asked at tech to show my fuel test rig. I think it is for the top cars who may have something to gain from running secret fuel blends.

We don't check at tech for those anymore on regional cars since we don't have the equip to test fuel samples. It is not a safety item.

I'm pretty sure the NNR organizers aren't going to check for a fuel sample or require a fuel port.

Oh nice, I was just starting to wonder about this. I guess I won't worry about it, then!

Good to know Michel. In previous SW regional RA events Doug N. has been checking the presence of fuel ports and issued warnings.

As far as Honda Fuel Test Ports go: http://www.angelfire.com/oh5/sccafuelports/page3.html
I sent him(Bret) the banjo bolt off the fuel fliter where the filter-to-fuel rail hose goes and he tapped/brazed a fuel test port right on it. You can also cut the the hose and put a "T" with the port installed on it.

He is where I got the one for my car. He did pretty much the same thing for the VW - tapped a banjo bolt (to my fuel distributor) and put a schraeder valve there.

As for checking it and so on, technically it is required by the rules so you can get dinged on it. So you'd best be planning on putting one in at some point, unless
the R-A rules change. All I'm saying is that I'm not planning on requiring the port or testing at NNR. I don't have the equipement to do it. However, it's possible you could run into some other better-equipped cranky scrutineer at another event and you don't have one or you're running the wrong additive in your gas he is within his rights to toss you.

Probably won't help you much, since I went with a custom AN -6 fuel setup.

But I am running this fuel sample port:
http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?RecID=3447

connected to this AN -6 T fitting:
http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productselection1.asp?Product=1069

And I sealed the fitting with Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket No. 3 Sealant:

But, but, but we do check the national cars for fuel samples. We're not talking about national open class cars. The ports are still required but it is a competition item not a safety item. We don't check for gear ratios or camshaft duration at tech either. We've never checked regional cars for fuel samples and if NNR isn't doing so then no need to stress anyone out over fuel ports.

We did find silver metal flake in a guys fuel one year...decided the fuel pumps were getting ready to take a crap.

In all events that were a regional running with a national, they checked for my fuel port. I was able to play dumb at LSPR (my first rally) but when I did my next event, Sno*Drift in 2009, they put in my logbook I needed a fuel port.

I would just put it, as it's $30 or so in parts.

I've often wondered, especially with a fuel cell, if having a really long straw would count as a fuel test port.

If you've got a fuel cell, you've probably got an AN fitting near the cell. Should be very simple to put a test port on there.

My test port was at the fitting where the fuel lines came into the car. I put it on the return line so it wasn't under pressure.

But I agree that it's not something that should be required for regional cars. If you're never going to make them use it, then why make them have it?
