Interesting. What about the people bolting EJ transmissions up to FB engines so they can get dual range whatever-the-hell-they-came-in transmissions for the Crosstreks?

The bolt pattern looks so close I can't see how it is different. Still has a rudimentary pocket over the left side for the old starter position. The Frisbee twins even still have those two megalong studs on the bottom.

Well, we'll find out sooner or later. After I'm done digesting the financial mess the RX-7 and the Volvo have done to me this spring, I'm going to buy one to play with for a bit. Worst case, I sell it off, or find a cheap FB25.

Aisin 6 speeds are weak, they're unreliable with a renesis in front so I wouldn't even try with anything more powerful, even less in a racecar. there is a reason Mazda made their own transmission for the S2 RX-8 & NC Miata.

Probably not the easiest way to hang the driveshaft center bearing, but it made sense at the time ("the time" involved lots of stand and stare with Sobieski, Red Bull, and American Spirits in play. Better living through chemistry!)

Now the shifter and driveshaft work harmoniously with the rest of the vehicle. And it drives the rear wheels!
As soon as I put in the halfshafts, anyway... which comes before making the exhaust but after making the rear strut towers, but somehow I have to do them in the other order.

Stressing over making strut towers right now. I expect this car to be able to hit things sideways or land from six feet up and not collapse.

The Mini inner fender and such is made out of like 26 gauge tinfoil. It's gonna be tied into the cage but I don't quite trust that enough. Thinking that the inner fender will have to be doubled up before the strut tower gets made.

Also, Bilstein HDs for an A2 Golf bolt up to Subaru uprights and the rally tires clear.

Yep. Or rather it is RWD and FWD at the same time. Complete Subaru drivetrain and suspension.

Slowly making progress...

Don't think I will have it ready by the 15th eye rolling smiley But still shooting for ASAP because there are some kickass rallycrosses in DC region and, pending further info, we may run it at some rallysprints held on the same site.
