Sure it is. eye rolling smiley

The co-perpetrator is going to be crewing at a stage rally this weekend so it will be just me throwing sparks. After the towers are finally finished, now that I think I know what height they have to be (mantra: I'm not building a Subaru, I'm building a Mini) the next step is finishing the front floor, then sorting how I'm going to keep the whole back of the car from twisting because I cut out all of the box sections back there, while also mounting the fuel tank in such a way that it can be refilled from the Mini filler neck (Subaru is on wrong side...) and also keep room for the radiator I have not bought yet...

Slow going but getting there. Rear fuel tank/radiator mount frame is made and welded in.

Now to double skin the trailing arm mounts, brace them up to the front of the tank frame, skin the outside of the forward part of the strut towers, and see about making a combination floor/radiator duct...

And HOW THE HELL will I put a quickener in the steering? We want to keep the stock Mini wheel/column for convenience and also lulz. We also want a quickener because Subarus have painfully slow steering and I really like the 1.3 turns lock to lock my RX-7 has.

The column is magnesium. I think I will be able to make a quickener frame that mounts where the combination front bearing/tilt pivot is, but I can also visualize the forces acting on the quickener shattering the forward column bracket.

LOLOMG Hi Dave. Been a while.

This place is deadzo. Facebook and other BS killed it. Really sad. Even JVL doesn't bother to hang out anymore.

I've been trolling the RWD Subaru engine thread with the Subaru drivetrain AWD Mini Cooper that I have been building but that is it.

And I've been trying to say "OOOHHH, AWWW" enough to entice others to OOOHHH and AHHH, but alas, I guess I will Rally in Meta (WTF is that anyway, I still don't understand)

Jeezus... I meant to OOOHH AAWWW this...

Damn this is cool. winking smiley

of course my RX-7 has louvers, you think I was born in the fucking 90s? it also has white letter tires.

\

also Bilstein HDs with 225lb springs in front, 150lb in back, because I like cars that handle well

oh yeah, never posted a major achievement. spliced a steering quickener into the column in such a way that the tilt function still works

juggling control arm position to get CV plunge and angle somewhat acceptable while leaving room for the coolant tubes
