Abbey leaves for 10 days for Costa Rica tomorrow. I was excited to have all this time to work on the car then went and fucked up my back wakeboarding. Hopefully it gets good enough to get something done.

Ibuprofen and PBR deeps.

I actually worked on my Merkur (street car) today. A lot of the reason for that is my Legacy is losing oil and has suspension issues that mean I need to get the XR on the road so I can have something to drive.

ouch! that sucks, ibuprofen and pbr should be enough to get you into the shop. I also lay on my belly on an exercise ball for about 15min just before bed. Seems to allow my back to relax after i've done a number on it.

Just be glad you didn't tear your bicep like my buddy did while wakeboarding...

Oh and bottom end is close, couldn't find the oil pickup tube so called it a night. Should have a complete longblock tomorrow. then starts some cutting in the engine bay, some trans maintenance and hopefully trans installation.

Hmmm, think you can un-fuck it riding around in a rally car? CORE this weekend for the BMW...now with more revs (hopefully).

yeah - I remember that bugger - no way its 17ft lbs - I think its a typo and judging from the size of that bolt should be 7ft lbs like many of the other bolts of that size - but I do remember setting the torque and tightening, at some point I said - no, and hell no - tight enough!

Hopefully there was enough left to back it out...

Boys. Really. Don't you guys know the bolts torque goes with the bolt?
A M6 is an M6 is an M6,

An M8 by any other name....

And the pitch and grade has bearing on it boy aside from rods and flywheels how often you find wacky bolts?

What was it? (Bolt size, not hex)

from my recollection it was a long M6 - and yes, I'm starting to see that pattern where all the M6 bolts are around 7ftlb, M8 15ftlb - but that's as far as I've gotten in my education...

Starting?
See a pattern?

Look in the front of ANY service manual and ---at least all the You're-a-peein' cochés I work on----and there's always a chart showing torques for all the common fasteners and some sorta words saying "Unless otherwise specified, the following torques apply"

Oh, sorry, WTF was I stinking...sorry,
I didn't mean to be mean...and suggest ever looking in like a

book

ya know.

Never more appropos than now so without further ado:
