Yeah, you have to take out thoses seat pedestals, kind of a PITA but well worth it on head room.

Remember I say (in my Swami voice) "You must become one with the spot weld drill when you own a rally car. It is written!"

I've got two at home, since they are cheap, but work surprisingly well. With my cordless drill, I count to 8 and it's done...

I use the $20 american made one. I've used the Harbor Freight one but I find the pin starts to deform and cause it to spin oblong. The nicer one has a good hard pin that doesn't ball up on the end.

Locally. Not sure on brand. Might be a Blair. It's like $20 but they sell replacement pins and cutters and such. Did about 50 yesterday with it.

More grinding, drilling, welding, and sanding happened Tuesday night. Pistons from Al have shown up and the links have been dropped off for zinc coating. Another full day of work planned for Sunday. Onward...

I think the spot weld drill tool I have is Blair, I got a 3/8 cutter for it cause the 5/16 one didn't work very well on the Volvo.

Blake and I both put in 8 hour days on the car today. it felt like we got a lot done but there isn't much to show for it. Blake spent most of the time cleaning up and finishing the welding boxes. Those are nearly done. I cleaned up many more feet of seams, nearly got the rest of the seat support out, cut out the rear factory jack points and trimmed the inner rear fenders.

You can see some of this work in the picture. Looks damned near good.

John, just had a brief phone conversation with one of your little ones. I will try and call again soon. Just trying to catch up and see where we are with some things.

I'm out the door here in just a couple of minutes to go work on the beast again. OTR is now no longer possible but for those not following the OTR entry list already, I have landed the ultimate inspiration, in the form of a co-driving roll for Mr. Al Kun in his swedish kabota (only orange tractor I could think of). Really excited about this. 1st time in RWD, in a volvo. YEAH BUDDY!
