John, just had a brief phone conversation with one of your little ones. I will try and call again soon. Just trying to catch up and see where we are with some things.

I'm out the door here in just a couple of minutes to go work on the beast again. OTR is now no longer possible but for those not following the OTR entry list already, I have landed the ultimate inspiration, in the form of a co-driving roll for Mr. Al Kun in his swedish kabota (only orange tractor I could think of). Really excited about this. 1st time in RWD, in a volvo. YEAH BUDDY!

What? That traitorous bastid......Oh his prices are going UP!

Didn't even ask....

I am disappoint.

Hopefully Freud had nothing to do with that mis-spelling. Yikes.

Oh weenie weenie weenie! Fer chrisake John, you don't want to co-drive, you want the steering wheel and the angry pedal! Why don't you fire up the Saab, or the Cossie Full Monty, or the Klub Kar?

We'll go out again when they let me put on my big boy pants and bolt on the torbeaux...

Now boys, you two play nice.

Choose your sidearm.

More progress. Seat pedestal is gone, seams all most all cleaned up.

Last night we the car got rotated belly down to hang the axle and start fabbing the pan hard mount.

Got all of these together.

The shiny silver links are TSS bars that we had nickel plated. they are super beefy in comparison to the others. We are going to run the TSS bars as the lower links with the light weight bars as the upper links and pan-hard. 1 spare pan hard, 2 spare links.

and here it hangs.

Still waiting on William to get us the axle tabs for the shock mounts but those will be here by the time we get done with the pan-hard mount. Then its time for more big holes.

Farväl

Last nights progress included a full tear down of the SooperBitchin front boingers. Cleaned up all the pieces real nice and got the inserts ready to be shipped back to John. This was the first time I had torn them apart so it was good to get some familiarization with the units while not under the gun.

While I was tearing those apart Blake made good progress with the pan-hard mount. Got everything mocked up in cardboard. Then I finished the night by cutting and shaping each of the pieces.

Three is better than two.

Just doing our best to keep up with the Joneses (Medcrofts).

Guess there was some other progress yesterday as well. I spoke to JV and he will be putting together a package full of all sorts of goodies. Of first importance, the death ray will make its way down so we can clean this thing up properly. Do it once, do it right. John also let me know he still had a set of the engine mount brackets cut out from when they did Kevin's car. That's great news and will save some time trying to sort out our own design. Round it out with a 90+ exhaust manifold, for use in mock up. You add it all up and it is a nice step forward.

Well yesterday kind of sucked a big one. Got out there and down to work only to find that we were completely out of argon. Son of a....So we set about pulling the rear axle back out. Got it set up and leveled so we can finish up the par-hard mount. Also cut some gussets to reinforce the ears on the axle then we started the tubbing of the rear fenders.

Guess maybe its a good thing we ran out of gas since we are...

Yeah Al thats what we were going for. Looks even closer with the "eyes" drilled out.

Got a package from JVL yesterday...

Undercoat meet your death!

JVL also sent me a set of the axle tabs for the shock mounts so we can move forward with that step. Tired of waiting for TSS.FAB.

Pat, weeze got all distracted talking about kids and your upcoming Papahood and how cool it is that I forgot to ask if you guys have a welders chipping hammer? It really is ideal and they only cost maybe $5 at Harbor Freight.

Listen for the 'crackle' and just tap tap. Work an edge. IE set the spray so its just barely spitting out some liquid--ya need liquid but not a big flood---freeze an area around the size of a notebook paper, tap on the undercoating about 2" in from edge....across then down (where the liquid has been running down and freezing stuff.
Work down from sill to sill, then ratchet over.

...remember what i said about visibility---you can waste a lot of that N waiting for clouds of steamy vapors to disperse ---so have a large fan on hand.

Rotsa ruck round eye.

Pat,

as you are well aquainted with the manly arts, you must know the Bosch Bulldog rotohammer. This is the tool of tools for undercoating removal. Go to your local Home Despot and get a tile remover chisle bit for said Bulldog, set ye old Bulldog to the jackhammer mode, and prepare to laugh at undercoating. In combo with deth ray it should take about 30 minutes to do the whole car

I am confuse though, your car look pretty well scraped at this point.

Thanks for the good advice. Both of you. With the exception of the seams, and where we cut for the boxes, we haven't stripped any of the undercoating. I was surprised at how little there was to begin with and then a heavy duty power-washing on the rotisserie took car of some of it. In the wheel wells and a few other places though, there is quite a lot. The plan is to have the whole shell painted while still on the spit so we want to get as much as we can. Blake and Joel's Sell-leak-ah will get this treatment as well.
