Lexan rear window idears
June 12, 2012 02:48AM
Welp....already putting together materials list for the Neon rebuild party and am considering changing out the rear window to Lexan. The main reason for this is it will probably be easier to cut some lexan than it will to get the roof line perfectly straight to fit OEM glass.

One concern is my now paranoid side that demands that any fasteners I use will be able to be broken through with a well placed kick. Ideally, the window would be in strong enough to withstand some jarring and wind pressure but not be heavy duty sealed to the car.

I am looking for advice in working with lexan (thickness), sealer types/application and fastener tech. Lacking any suitable advice in this thread, I will take pics of Jennifer Anniston's breasticles in lieu of aforementioned advice.

So what if enough people ask RA to change the rule for lexan to have a minimum of 1/8"? Think they would budge?

They seem to make changes every year and there year is all ready over so its probably a good time to start asking for changes.

Get the right letterhead for a Talent Management Agency, preferably the some agency they already use, claim to be a rally "God" or a rally "Superstar" throw in all sorts of buzz words about "leveraging" and use the phrase "to grow" by writing the abomination of the pooor long suffering English language 'grow' like 'allow 1/8" lexan to grow the leveraging of symbiotic ......" (study the comic strip "Dilbert" for all the buzz words you need---obviously they do) then include some 8x10 glossies (don't forget you team flat brim baseball hats and if you don't have a soul patch draw one in with a Sharpie----on your chin Einstein, not the photo!---we're creating "reality marketing" dammit.)

and I'm sure that everything will be alright.

Really not that hard to get the roof close enough for a glass back window to be glued back in.

Oh I don't need 'em splained. I'm the one with weee small chillens and a sweet young thang of a wife, I was just wondering about the context---and I hain't no Puritan either..., that was my suggestion years ago to get guys faster, have finish control crews looking like that and boys would be in a hurry to get to the finish.

Just tryin to help smiling bouncing smiley safe link, Ms.Anniston at her best (which isn't all that good anyway), but you asked. Unless when you said "I will take pics of Jennifer Anniston's breasticles in lieu of aforementioned advice." you meant you were going to hide in the flower garden and take pics with a camera...in which case you'll have plenty of time sitting around the cell block to design rear windowseye popping smiley

Seems like every car with Lexan back windows is always full of dust, the windows scratch, hard to see out of after a few events. If you try to make it leak proof you'll never be able to get out that way. I don't know if there is a good answer on Lexan.

I'd probably just reroof the car anyway..less Bondo. But, looking at the pic the back of the roof doesn't look that bad, hard to tell from one pic but by the time you push it back into shape that window ledge will be pretty straight I'll bet.

I once though lexan would be worthwhile, but i guess im maturing in my build mentality. My thoughts are basically "hell with it". Glass works fine.

I was guessing that. So when you rebuild you should really consider A pillar bars (unless it is a homolgated cage). The Neon has a very raked front pillar. If you had landed more on the roof there isn't much support due to the lack of verticle support in the A pillars. Even tho the windscreen is tougher than your Nikes...
