"Talk about drugs. Driving a car like that, going that fast, it’s like all the drugs at once." - Tommy Byrne

"Now, Pinky, if by any chance you are captured during this mission, remember you are Gunther Heindriksen from Appenzell. You moved to Grindelwald to drive the cog train to Murren. Can you repeat that?" - The Brain

Nothing wrong with MkIV for rally and nothing wrong with Turbo - much cheaper than fancy VW Motorsports (Lehman) motor and makes the gear box less a problem.

Good to have a goal but the top VW Mk4 kit cars ran more than $100,000 so it will be a tad hard to produce a better handeling, faster, stronger etc car on your own - but that is not the point for fairly limited cost you can produce a car that will give you 85% of the kit car for less than $25,000 easy.

I am sure John would make you struts and Sachs, HR, Sehlhom, DMS, Bilstine and others make sets for this car.

In the long run reality always wins.

How far are you from Raleigh area? A friend that use to race a Jetta has a shop there and is fully capable of helping with stuff like roll cage and engine and such. Washburn Motorsports is the shop name.
I'm a RWD fan personally. Golfs are decent grocery getters and pretty fun multi-use car like daily driving and doing the occasional rallycross, autocross or track day. Some people have done really well rallying them and if you're going to build one I'd say get a cage and safety equipment, some dampers, brake pads, and go enter a rally. Upgrades can wait til your second or third event.

It's almost like this is one of those model cars set in a sweet pose and it's just built up in two different scenic settings.

Cool 3-D effect.
Let's keep this going...

Wait... I can't think of any good insults......
Shit, OK let's see if anybody can say where the John mis-quote above came from and why it's timely?

Kennedy was a friend of mine and frankly senator you are no Kennedy.

VP debate before election still won by Bush Sr. even with Dan Quayle as his running mate.

Proflex is another brand of suspension for Mk4's but not cheap...

Make sure to get the motor mounts made lots stronger...

We have a wiener!!!
(but I expected you would, so duddn't count)
Kinda appropriate metaphor, eh?
The man who 'was not Jack Kennedy' was pretty and shiny and dressed nicely, looked like a candidate....and similarly some of these Bey Ehm Vaygelahs are pretty and shiny and are dressed nicely and look like rally cars......

Alas....

Strange. but true.

Only approximately 400% more than some others.....And simple service can be thousands and take 6-7 months...

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm........

Plus Juan!
Always have been a very weak point from MkI onwards.
