What wheels are the cool kids running to clear big brakes on the front? I am building two customer cars and need wheels soon.

I'm surprised you have to ask. BRAID of course. LOL

What's stock offset?
Do these two cars have JVAB dampers too? Guessing Jason's car does.
The Saab 9000 wheels are what John likes as I recall. They clear the brakes I think but hit the spring so have to be spaced out with a 25mm spacer. Ford Focus is the application of the spacer you want. The ARP long studs are needed regardless. Or you can go with upsized M14 ones, which I have but never actually got around to installing. Story of my rally life lately...

5.5Jx15x41

So 41mm, I assume.

The 9000 ones are 6 x and ET is like 33

Those 5.5 are 88--> 900, very poor ID clearance for calipers

I think a 15X6 et 33 would clear dampers and brakes quite likely. Though a 5-10 mm spacer may still be needed with that. There's clearance between my damper and wheel but not sure it's 8 mm.
I do get some slight blue paint onto my wheel in the rear but not regularly and not nearly big of deal compared to the gouge that is worn into the wheels from my improper clearance to the lower strut bracket I ghetto fabricated with intentions of redoing and became permanent.

John just recently supplied the studs. There is only 25 or 30mm of threads so a spacer is not an option.

So I got my offset math backwards? Oops!

Well most RWD cars from that era from American manufacturers were positive offset which would have been correct. But the Merkur being European designed used negative offset wheels so easy enough to get it backwards. smiling smiley Wait, is that right. Head hurts now.

The Focus Arcasting rally wheels are 6.5 x 15 et 45. with the 25mm H&R spacer, there is maybe 1-2mm clearance between the spring perch and the rim/tire

The online wheel calculator shows that a 6 x 15 et25 will have 1mm more clearance than the 6.5 x 15 et 45 with the 25mm spacer

6.5 = 165.1 mm
6 = 152.4

So et 45 on 6.5" width means rear is 165.1/2 = 82.55mm (centerline) + 45mm = 127.55 mm from inner hub face to rear lip. Add 25mm spacer and you're at 127.55-25 = 102.55mm.
Similarly et25 on 6" width is 76.2 mm + 25 mm = 101.2mm.
So 1.35mm difference as Sean says.

Only posting that in case someone wants to learn how to manually do so on their own. Also shows why I get SUPER annoyed at online posts and wheel talk that discuss what offset works on a car without discussing or divulging what the wheel width was as that is equally as important. Merkur guys do it all the time.

Think I used a 4mm spacer but that was with the Cossie 4x4 knuckles.

Robert could test fir some wheels by barrowing some, not like I don't have a huge variety. He could smoke a Hong Ta Shan or Chung Wa ciggies (Red Pagoda Mountain or Middle Kingdom --aka China) while we stumbled around looking. I'm up---wrong time zone.

It was good. Lots of time with Sister and her duaghter who we all consider Big Sister to our girls---she's 8 and smart as a whip...Time with Auntie 3 and Auntie 4 who was so kind and spent so much time when the girls were babies and came back when Chrissie had the tumor in the brain, and lots of time with Brother-in-law.
LOTS of lunches and dinners...only gained 1 lbs...

Been down in the middle of the night working on Corolla knuckles since were all jet-lagged. Got 'em ready for welding the goose necks in and after some rest will pack a pile of stuff for those guys who have paid up suspenders.

Come on down, may be groggy but that's almost normal for me iddnit?

Yeah, fraid so. I have on one of mine the 9000 wheels...they're 6 x and ET like 33..Used to beeasier to find, too..The inside contour of the 5.5 wheel is not the coolest for fitting over much.. Maybe the stock brakes but not even sure of that...

6" 9000 more better-er-er
