Oddly, Shawn posted this today of his Porsche. They all look the same to me so not sure if it is the same or event close but okay.

Didn't expect to be doing this today sad smiley

Disconnected the rear anti roll bar and I can move the left rear wheel up with little resistance. Can't move the right side so left torsion bar must be broken or out of its socket.

Left side is green end. Right side has a cap on it. Does this look right?

I guess it's still safe to drive till September 13th, at least in Virginia.

Success! My car no longer has a broken rear torsion bar (in it).

That torsion bar be broken. It broke at the inner splines. You can see where the crack began and propagated out in a spiral. Very impressive.

That's the broken end still in the torsion tube. I guess I'm supposed to bash it out from the other side once I remove the other bar. No rust or anything. I would even say "pristine"

Used my fancy iPhone angle find app to determine the inclination of the non broken torsion plate. 34.8*. Is that correct?

The good torsion bar. Ready to be pulled. I think I am now one with this car smiling smiley Green on the left, blue on the right. Is this significant?

Lets twist again, like we did last...........oh, never mind.

Couple of zip ties, JB Weld and some duct tape and it'll be good as new. (Its'a rally thing)

Now I'm off to Dearborn to pick up some used torsion bars in case the rally-fix doesn't work. Ford ones will work right? But first I think I've earned a nice cup of tea.

Tomorrow we slap it back together. Saturday we figure out how to work the radio.

Man, that sucks but look at it as an opportunity to set it a bit higher or whatever.

What do the bottom of the strut tubes look like? Somebody might just be corn-vinced to have a look at the 911 Bilstein inverted 40 inserts that are laying around, but it all depends on the bottom of the tubes... can you post a shot looking straight up from below?

You're right. Tomorrow I have to figure out how to do that. Don't want to go nut's but I little lift would be nice.

You sayin' you might have some Billies available? I'll take whatever pictures are necessary, just not sure what that might be. Front or rear?

Those Porsche's seem pretty modular...gotta imagine there's decades of used components to play with.

Front, 911 but they always reference "Bilstein knuckles". The rod is not threaded, it has a waist that that's pinched.. A typically over complicated, expensive and unique solution to what the entire rest of the world mangaed to do threading the rod thru the strut bottom and running a jam nut down>
Shoot a piccie showing the actual BOTTOM of the tube shot from below.

One advantage to running a 911 in Prepared is that the ride height can be set to where you want it, with factory adjustment. New rules for 2013 have banned threaded perches and/or relocated spring seats. There's going to be another mass exodus to Modified next year.

OK, will do. I do remember looking in that area and thinking "That's odd".

Color coding of the torsion bars is possibly because you don't want to put a used one on the wrong side. If I'm remembering correctly from my VW days, once a bar is used, you don't want to flip it to the other side and start twisting it in the other direction, it might just end up like you're did.
