John, can you check your email and get back with me tonight? I am having a issue with the threading on one of your bodies.

first: clean. use goood stiff brush. next lube, even soap. clean good below lock ting. then go down.. don't be a savage....those things spin freely when clean... work bacl and forth and if it jams, back off the other way and more water, gunk, soap, and even propane---followed by Gunk..

John thanks for the suggestions. It took over an hour last night but I finally got the perch and locking collar unthreaded last night. Shock body threads were good, but the collar threads were apparently the issue. They had knicks in them in a few places. After cleaning then with a file they thread on and off now with no issues.

Had a similar issue. Dirt likes to get down there. I've taken to putting a bead of silicone sealant around the top of the body after setting the ride height. And, of course, I wrap some duct tape around the lower exposed threads. Figure it'll be easier to peel off the sealant than work out any dirt if I need to readjust.

Yeah lots of discussions on keeping dirt out. One thing I forget to say is a good whack in 4 positions occasionally to smoosush the dirt or rattle it loose.. ringht on the adjuster ring or flange or whaddever you call it. Good solid whack with plastic mallet

I use clear hockey tape to protect the threads. It's doesn't leave a residue.

Fire hose zip-tied around the shock body also works. It's also reusable. Let me know if you need some, I currently have 300ft sitting in my garage.

John Reed took an idea I offhand suggested and used monster mutant heat shrink wrap....

I took a couple of spring seats and machined a groove on the ID of the raised portion of the lower spring seat and first tired a round O ring..No go, way too stiff, so I thried square section O ring, still too stiff to adjust...

I thought about a modified Acme thread but its so deep it makes other problems..

Seems the only workable solution is clean clean clean and clean again..

I have a set of Cosmo sleeves for a road racing setup. They use a double nut, with the top one being plastic. They have survived ~800mi on track and ~2kmi on the street, and I can still adjust them easily.
The heat shrink seems like it would be awesome, but really expensive.

I would also worry about how much insulation you are adding to the sleeves. I know the tube/insert has all the fluid, but you probably want to keep them cool. Did anyone ever try running the shock cover/bags?

my current plan is to try a 1/2" tall neoprene sleeve around the threads above spring seat (just need to keep crap out of there). plan is to make it out of a beer koozie, I think the stock koozie diameter is larger than the 40mm threaded bodies but they make koozies for the slim cans all the cool kids have too.
