Fast Tire Changes

So I was chating with my office mate about how them folks that turn left manage to change tires and get gas in 16 seconds...

I am sure you all have long ago gotten the proper studs that have starting nubs right? Well them NASCAR folks glue lug nuts to the wheels such that when they put the wheel on the hub the nuts are sitting right there on the starter nubs. Hit them with the gun or quick wrench and go. They toss the old nuts out they are hot and small and hard to keep track of.

Sounds like a good idea. I bet with practice I and a co-driver could get that down to around a min for a tire change on stage.

Something to think about.

In the long run reality always wins.

Don't forget that they use spring loaded sockets that aren't really six sided so much as they are "toothed", it's kind of the socket equivalent of a dog gearbox.

And specially tuned impact guns, special coatings on the lug nuts and inside the sockets... lotta work to get down to 12s pit stops.

Let's see Formula Whine do that!
