Did 100AW in 2011 and didn't have this problem. I guess that's what happens when you don't take water crossings like a sissy when you come back for a second go...

Great piccie.
on Mandan Road at Lake Superior I landed in a huge puddle that was kinda deeper, we were in 4th and big jump and I blew out 2 of the plugs in the floor of the Saab--they were maybe 1 7/8" diameter and BOOOOF! two columns of water exploded into the car....Entire inside was soaked.. And there were gawd knows how many more jumps with huge puddles on that stage..
Did 3rd Overall on that SS.. Saab 900 16v Group 2 car one the stage, Henry Bourne Joy III in his Evobitchi 2nd, us in the mighty V4 3rd..Nice and long stage and a jillion jumps all 3rd and 4th..
Co-driver Tom Gillespie from Iowa, put down the book and said "Fawkit you ain't listening anyway, just go for it"

I did.

Wonder if they still use Mandan Road?
it was fun.

Oh hush! I actually did look up that company that did put ITR motors into the Lotus Elise to try and find how they did their shift linkage conversion from a mechanical to cable. The only response I got back was something like, "We have method ingenious of doing goal" or some other sort of band response. Was for several reasons. One, moving the shifter in a more perfect/ideal location. Two, allowing me to 100% tuck up my exhaust in the exhaust tunnel without having to worry about shifter clearance.

That pic made me giggle.

I've never had that happen to me, but I have had unsealed holes fill the entire car with so much dust that I couldn't see.

My main recollection of those crossings at 100AW was that the car would surf on the skidplate. In a FWD car, this had effect of externally-induced clutch-fanning.

Oh, and never ever EVER cut the turn into the entrance of one.

Yeah. We went up, serviced at Copper Harbor, did Brockaway on gravel tires...4th or 5th OA time, then service then came back on Mandan the other way..
Gillespie who had been there like 12-13 times was saying "You'll be in second on and off the gas dodging rock-a-dillos the size of watermelons"

Flat 3rd and flat in 4th on the rev limit and honest to god hooopin' it up and yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee haaaaaaaaawin it over the jumps.
There were no ruts cause the road base was so packed---hence the standing water, but that meant no wacky ruts so FULL GAS!

That's why he said "fawkit you ain't listening"

Great stuff! Same thing happened to me at 100 AW two years ago. Watersplash. Water everywhere. soaked my suit. I hit the wipers. wonder why there's still drips. wipers again. WTF? wipers. "Oh, its on the inside!!!" Start paying attention to the co-driver and road again...

Issue was the camera's aim. I have the GoPro set for center spot exposure but the camera is pointed straight at my black center dash. Was an issue with the stupid GoPro arm mounts (and even better excust to move to a RAM mount). I was using the short/stubby jig-saw of arms to get the camera. I have a longer one that I misplaced (later found it rolling around on the floor of the car) that allows me to get more tilt up. So I just made due with what I had. My videos from Friday actually looked OK because it was heavily overcast.

Agreed. The screen cap makes it look like I drove into the ocean with the windows rolled down.
