my take on the old IMSA 90 paint scheme. I'm inverting a couple of the colors. Nothing too fancy.
Classic. You get everything wired up and whatnot?

Your door bars need to enter the door at halfway up. Can't quite tell if they do. Also I'm no expert

I believe the rule states they can't enter any further then half way up. They can be lower. Car looks awesome too. Good luck on the rest of your build!

That is correct. Door bars are fine. Great even.

I'd put an A-pilar bar in there.

Are you tying into the front strut towers?

Oh. Yeah. Locked center diff. You have tried to do do tight slide figure 8s with a locked rear, locked center and 140 bhp right? Locked diffs and no power go great straight. Plow through anything. Locked diffs trying to swing or handle? Nope. Quattros plow.

I do it with maybe 80hp... if you just try to drive the car like it was some Subaru or Mitsubishi or other modern thing then it sucks. If you pitch the car around like it was rear drive then it works much better. More or less, if you have to turn the round thing in front of you more than a quarter turn then you're not going to get much done, you have to lead with the tail.

But the general chassis blows so hard that if you DON'T have the diffs locked then you can't just drive it AND you can't pitch it very well either. I still kinda want to know what drugs they were on when they decided that making the car SHORTER would somehow make it better handling.

I'm with Pete on this one...

If you visit O'Neils where they teach in these things, they run them with stock hp, and front/rear locked. That's the way I ran the previous NA 4k I had as well, and how I run the turbo version. I have tried it with rear open and center locked on very slippery/icy roads - less drama for sure, but not sure it was faster..4k's need, hell, love to be thrown into a corner...takes more commitment, but lots of fun if you're into the drama..

Btw, that NA 4k had VW 16v pistons which improved the compression ratio - don't know how much though....

Yup - perhaps the 500hp helped smiling smiley

I think I'd like to drive a modern 4wd rig at some point to see how much easier it is - driving my E30 in the snow felt sooo easy and predictable compared to the 4k...

Why is it the moment I move away from MN/WI people seem to come out of the woodwork? grinning smiley I can't wingshoot for crap but you make it look fun and less complicated than rally car building. Thanks for the post!

Ain't that how it normally goes? That stinks lol. I used to hang out over at Midwest Motorworks in Hudson when I lived in St.Paul a few years back. Yeah usually duck season is a good time. For 60 plus days, I could give two shits about just about anything that doesn't have wings and webbed feet lol. My outlook has always been to smile and laugh. Sometimes you get so caught up in things that you have to remind yourself that this shits supposed to be fun lol. You ever make it back to the MN rallies?

Sure, sure.... now i'm done with school for awhile and moving back to the cities and you want out.... LOL I'll be back in St. Paul/Hudson beginning in August.

Holy shit the past year has been a crazy one! 2015 is shaping up to be a doozy as well. I hit a point last winter/spring of just being "over" cars. I didn't want anything to do with them anymore. Fuck it. I'm done. I'm selling all this shit and when the kids are older and I get to see what "sleeping in" and a quiet house feels like again, I'll start back up with the dream of having a race car.....

*smack! A few weeks ago after parting out 80% of my little race car.....

"Wtf is wrong with you?' You're a fucking car guy dude! Quit being an impatient bitch! If it takes 10 years to finish, who the fuck cares? You love this shit! And you love dirt bikes and hockey and hunting and all the other shit you have to be busy with doing all the time. 80% of your time goes into the fam, the other 20? Does it matter? It's yours and you're enjoying it."

I had a "wtf are you doing dude" moment a couple months back. People have told me in the past that "you can't have it all." Bullshit I can't hahaha. I just take smaller slices and eventually I'll get the whole thing! Anyhow, bit of a rant tonight...... It's Sunday and I just finished up a brutal workweek but heading into a pretty awesome upcoming weekend. Something about 2014 wrapping up and all the neato things on the horizon in my household for '15 has flipped a bit of a switch upstairs in the noggin. Or maybe that's turning 30 here pretty quick? I'm not quite sure and I don't really care ha! The biggest things I've learned from 2014 is patience and calming the fuck down. Slow down. Enjoy this shit that's happening now. Things don't happen overnight. And don't sell off all the shit you've spent your valuable free time building because you're frustrated. Haha!

Man..... What a fucking weirdo that guy is...... Ha!

It's going to be cold as balls outside after this next week but I'm gonna make progress on what parts I have left. I'm firing this build back up and thankfully nobody wanted to buy my chassis at a pretty much come take it price! Whew! My goal for the car is to have it ready to go into storage by the end of summer. Wait. What?

Hey thanks! Took some time away from cars for a bit. I'm trying to go balls out before spring hits and race season starts on the dirty bike. About that moving business....... Keep an eye on the thread lol. Cars going in a different direction, which I'll share once I get a certain chassis stripped down and out of my shop. Still a month or so away though.
