I started with the GT2871 - too much lag and the restrictor just chocked the hell out of it, never got more than 24 psi boost. Went to the GTX2860 (Marc has a guy that can retrofit billet cold sides for the GTs) and we were getting into the 28psi range - but the MAP sensor on the ecu was a 2.5bar, so need an 4bar installed so we can get everything from this turbo.

Lots of low end torque thumbs up smiley

FWIW, I have a Gt2871 setup on my 1995 S6 wagon with the same 20v 5-cyl and it is laggy even on the street without a restrictor. I suspect it is because of compressor surge below 3500rpm or so based on the weird shimmering sound (like soft wire brushes on a cymbal) you get at throttle down low and zero boost....Maybe 5-7psi by 3000rpm .....

If you need a map sensor, I have a Varimap new in the packaging (might be a 3.0 or 4.0 bar MAp sensor..... will have to check

If Your having Davenport build anything, be aware that his work can be hit or miss, and his timelines are, well, on his own time, and very long. I used to worx for a different rally prep team in MN, and we had lots of people call us up after 4 or 5 months of not hearing anything, and no progress, or to fix things the were "less than quality" such as bath tub caulk used in place of weld in hard to reach areas.. it got found at a tech inspection...

There are other cage builders in MN, i am one of them, im a bit booked at the moment, as i have 2 customers cars in the shop getting caged. im within an hour of ya, towards St. Cloud.

Other than that, good luck with your build, and look foreward to seeing another MN guy out there.

I be sorry as a muthafucka I did, still sorry I did n' hustled ta peep what tha fuck I holla'd a lil' bit better, or at least try to.

Looks like someone already swapped out the stock coils - great! I've got two S-cars as DD's - they have their quirks, but if you're handy with a wrench and the internet you should be good to go...mine has 301k mi with an RS2 package. Did a head gasket about 60k ago (in the car). good luck with it...

Thanks! I've always wanted one of these. Mostly for the engine/tranny lol. So far its been nice to drive. My wheel bearings and window have just recently showed up, so Monday I'll put them in. What do you think about 034s stage 1+? I have no real inclination to do much to this thing other than the usually basic turbo car mods. Exhaust, fuel and chip set. Again, future power train while DDing it. Eventually would like to get a VW diesel for DD duty...

And bought this for damn near nothing!!!! $1400!!!!!! Needs a wheel bearing and a window. Figure I'll DD this thing until I can move up a class and then swap the AAN and 01E into the 4k. Always thinking ahead!

Forget that, put a window and wheel bearing in it and sell it for $4000 and use the cash for your 4000....

People buy up these S-cars like hot cakes if they don't have rust or major mechanical issues.

I thought I was lol. Nabbed a future power train for my 4k! Planning on once the wifeys new scooobaru payments get whittled down, I'm getting me a newer diesel truck. Then I'll tear this thing apart and drive a gas sipper to and from work.

Sooooo, over the past couple of weeks schedules and weather sucked the big balls. I found another seat for, yup, $100 lol. Love Craigslist! Also ordered up a hub adapter for my steering wheel. Mmmmmmeaning, mounting the seats!

Patched a couple spots on the floor pan and got the seats mounted. My Datsun sold a couple weeks ago... soooooo! Car leaves for the cage next week!!

He's waiting for a message later today that I've bent the ears and welded them on his struts.

YES I AM! Didn't even know I could dance a jig but I did.

Mine is ready for paint when I get back. Need to pick out a roof scoop before I can paint the body but the doors fenders, bumpers and hood are ready.

my take on the old IMSA 90 paint scheme. I'm inverting a couple of the colors. Nothing too fancy.
