This is small potatos for most steel supliers. Try an oval track car builder. Left hander is in illinois not sure how far that is. Lane automotive and All star performance carries it but im sure shipping will get you. With Lane you really need to find a vender who spends 50k or more a year to get the good prices.

They will still ask $7.00 but if you get the right guy and ask for 10% over cost to help you out with your rally build you will find its closer to $4.00.

I've been lucky with a local steel supplier in NH.

1.75" x 0.095 DOM from Cohen Steel in Concord, I think it was $4.75 a foot plus $50 to have it delivered to a residential address a couple towns away. 18 to 22 foot sticks. Think he rounded down on the lengths we got as well.

Then we screwed up one too many bends and needed one more stick. The salesman offered to wait in the parking lot for 30 minutes after closing time with the stick for Brett to go get it (I can't remember if Brett brought his port-band and little generator, or if I just paid the cut fee).

I was sure to thank the sales guy profusely for taking so much time for a small potatoes order, but he was totally down with the struggle, I think he liked helping build a LeMons car.

This the thing with everything in the modernen computer aided economy....prices for EVERYTHING are always in a flux with mostly "whatever we go squeeze" and that's airline seats, mortgages, materials, freight---always ask for discounts! ALWAYS---everything..
Just bought more 3 1/2" and 4" and 2 sticks of 2 x 2 1/2 bar.. Prices quoted for same exact thing varied for just over $5/lb to $2.37/lb

That bar stuff is getting carved up into the last part for the 25 diff kits...the snout mounts ...ooooooh nice.

Steering arms for all you Howdy Audi pervs will be picked up Friday..
And they're good.
detailed piccies later but this will allow one spare lower strut tube to be used in all 4 locations...

Nice! Can't wait to check em out. Any word from AJ on those upper RS mounts?

That's a pretty awesome story Andrew! You don't here of that too much these days. Especially with the bigger outfits.

I go back to work tomorrow, so next week I'll pick up the chase again. I'm thinking I'm probably going to call around to all the fab shops and see if I can buy through them.

I just ordered some tubing, $1.50 price difference between two different vendors. The one close to my shop didn't have all the sizes I needed and was more expensive. Bummer as the other one is too far to pick up which means I have to have it delivered Friday which sucks because I don't really have a day to spend up there. Stupid busy.

For anyone in the NH area, I have also placed several orders through Cohen Steel and have been very happy with all of them. I have also always had them ship it for free, as long as the order was over $200, and I waited for a day when they had other orders in the area. Im about 20 miles away, and it seams they make a delivery around here a couple times a week.

They have also been very nice about getting me pricing for various materials and amounts, both over the phone and email. Pricing seemed good the couple times I tried also calling other places. Good to hear others have had good luck with them.

No.
1-1/2" O.D. x .095" wall $5.23 / ft

$3.30 a foot is what I sold that size tubing to Will for for his cage.

I used onlinemetals.com to order some 1/4" stainless steel rod for building some shelves for our pharmaceutical ovens. Speaking of, gotta finish building those...

I just checked through my emails, John Davella was my contact at Cohen. Haven't met him in person, but he's been super nice over the phone and email.

You got a car yet? A jorb? Any of your own tools?

I went to discount steel in Minneapolis on Saturday and in their retail store 1-1/2" O.D. x .095" wall was $4 a foot. So, the online prices appear to be for online orders only.
