So, on something like the 14mm studs - do you just use a tapered reamer to open-up the stud holes in the wheels?

(that is, with the ASS-ump-shun there is enough "meat" in the wheel, and you don't need to enlarge the counterbore to fit the larger nut and socket)

'Nother thing - the rear axles I notice are flat across the wheel mating surface, but the fronts have a small "step" in them - is this (or CAN this be) a weak spot where the nut is clamping the wheel across a "bridge" rather than face-to-face?

Ideally to make things a breeze you use what's called a "core drill" which has no tip and self centers:

I used an ordinary 9/16" for the sample wheel and it too off just .020 since wheel bolt holes are always oversize..

The front hub is how Volvo made them, I cannot comment on what they were thinking,, but remember a disc covers the hub..

As for wheel nut size, just use the right size 19mm nut and thats same-o same-o.. Only a mad man would make problems for themselves with nuts too big and needing a special one off socket that's been turned down on the OD when there are correct nuts aout there for a buck each.

I have been very busy at work lately, but i have managed to get a little bit done on the interior. I have acquired a tube bender and notcher. Hopefully 160ft of DOM tubing will be enough.

This is starting to look really sweet! Nice work justin. Just curious what are the engine plans?

Also what did you get for a tubing notcher? I need to acquire one aswell and was looking at the jd2 notch master.

Well poor boy is in the belly of the beast and unless a miracle occurs that mean his nearest events will be Wawwy Amerwica with their idiotic "You can build a 245 bhp n.a. car , gear it with 5.1 axle and a close ratio box and drive that in any manner and you cannt hurt anybody, but you must NOT have a turbo cause we don't know if its too fast rule and if it is a turbo it is a certainty you will slaughter busloads of people"

We were talking of what should call "The Al Kun method" Mill 1.5 to 1.6mm off the head, some cam like K cam and some sleazy headers and call it enough. Then pop in 4.63 or 4.88 back axle. Oh a flywheel that doesn't weigh 33 lbs and a clutch that works would be good too.

No engine plans for now. Right now i'm just worrying about getting the thing to pass scrutineering. I bought the JD2 model 3 and the JD2 nothcher as well. so far i haven't had any problems with it. just beware -- the dies cost around $300 a piece... ouch.

Here are some pics from a few weeks ago. Everything on the rear suspension is tacked up. need to make some spacers and articulate the suspension to check for any clearance issues.

Is there a kink in the a-pillar support? I find it necessary for knuckle clearance.

The picture is deceiving. There is about 12 inches between the dash bar and the steering wheel.
