Can anyone post up some detailed pics of the construction of the little slider windows. I'm not sure how to machine the pieces which will form the slider rails.

If you're trying to do the "window within a window" you can stack flat strips of Lexan to form your rails and hold them together with long rivets or Chicago Screws.

Cheers, Ted

Hmph, I don't have a close-up photo but my plastics supplier had lexan 'L-channel' that I used. I quite frankly don't think it's going to be deep enough to hold the slider at speed...but we're going to find out soon enough tongue sticking out smiley

Best photo I have at the moment:

Currently the rails are just bonded on using a proper lexan adhesive. I'll be popping some small chicago fasteners through 'em at some point...if I can find them in a small enough diameter.

Dave, BTW... if you have the bits, or get the opportunity... want to build me a set of windows?

It's relatively easy to do. Just pull the glass, lay it down on a sheet of lexan and trace :-)

I'll tell you what though, I'll sell you MY front windows and build me a new set. When I built mine I meant to put the sliders on the same side; ie. build both windows with sliders OUTSIDE the car. So if I didn't like 'em that way I could swap left to right and thus have sliders INSIDE the car.

Somewhere, I goofed. DS slider is outside, PS slider is inside the window. Doesn't matter how I swap now, it will always be the same.

You can buy my set for Material costs, and I'll make me some new ones. Otherwise, you're paying for labour! :-)

You don't want to have to pay to have me do them. As someone posted it's pretty easy. You can buy lexan at plastic world in Downsview. I think it's about $110 a sheet. If you really want I can do them at Planet Motorsport and supply materials but I have my fronts to do as well as I think an entire GC coupe.

i did the entire "asfire" that i took to Sherbrooke. Only took me a couple hours.

and Dave shop around. i live like 3 blocks from Plastics World. but i bought the stuff from Mississauga someplace...at like $90 a sheet for tinted...clear was about $70

If you have framed doors it's stupid easy to do.. i even had them roll up and down with the stock tracks and everything.

If you have a jig saw and a file...it's stupid easy

Where is this place in Missisauga? Plastic world doesn't have the tinted stuff. Do you know if they had material to make slider rails from?

BTW I've got a super secret solution to doing frameless windows that may even qualify as Soooper Bitchin (patent pending)
