Alright so here's my dilemma. LN tank is being delivered tomorrow. To get to my work area where the shell is being prepped is down a hill in my yard with no driveway.

I pretty much have a 2 car garage with driveway access, then around back underneath I have another 2 car garage. Perfect space for a rally car; who needs a driveway.

Well they are going to deliver the tank its going to be up above, the tank is about 500lbs. I've gone over a bunch of ways to make this work and none of them seem either safe or easy. The ground is really wet which throws in another variable.

The directions obviously say do not lay on its side, with a regular dewar the LN would just leak out. This tank is pressurized though; so i'm wondering if I lay on its side and roll it down the hill would that cause any kind of problems. I think it should be fine, but who knows. I was going to use an engine hoist to lower it on its side. Roll it down then use the hoist to pick it back up.

Can you bring the car to the tank? Outdoor is as safely ventilated as you can get.

No I can not. Its in the lower garage on a rotisserie.

Grant how easy was it to move around? Do you think a 3 guys could tip it and roll it down a hill safely? Without seeing the tank in person I haven't got a feel for it yet.

The original plan was to get plywood and roll it down the hill on the plywood, like you would a gas cylinder for welding. The tank is 200lbs which i thought is doable that way. But its actually 500lbs full.

We slowly rocked and rolled it around. Honestly it might be easier to bring the car and rotisserie up the hill than the tank down the hill.
Know someone with a jeep and winch?
I don't know enough about the dewars to know if you could lay it down but I imagine you could. Call an Airgas in New York and ask them? smiling smiley

This may be the way to go, just need to make sure I have plywood to lay down. Hell maybe I should just go to lowes and 'borrow' of those flatbed roller dollys they have for drywall and stuff.

As much of a pain in the ass Grant's suggestion is, you won't get very far if that thing slides down the hill and breaks apart:

Make sure you have a spotter when using the death ray too.

Yeah, spotter turned out to be instrumental in preserving a foot when the death ray was dripping at the fitting and pouring liquid straight onto someones foot.

Moving the car is impossible. It's just not going to happen. Any other suggestions when we're spraying and chipping?

Gloves and a full face protection.. LOW pressure. Regulate it so its just kinda sputtering out some liquid.....work top down so you can take advantage of the run-off down hill.

Take lots of photos.

Work all day.

We put wand holder in full carhart body suit with welding gloves and face shield. Helper or two weilding chopping hammer and occasionally air hammer. Worked left to right, about 12-16" 2-3" high than moved down.

Our guy here at Airgas has a dolly but really only for level ground.
Block and tackle attached would help the slide factor

Jeans and sweatshirt seemed to do OK for the 5 cars I've done....
and I did a more square area..the dribble ran down more that 2-3"

As long as you have some sense.
