Ive ran 1.5 and 2.0 they both take getting used to. How many turns do you want lock to lock? if your 3 turns now then with 2.0 you will be 1.5. I like about between 1 and 1.5 turns lock to lock.

I don't think this is "proper" just an example. I had the idea that if for some reason it failed we would be able to swap the colum for a stock one at service. Plus I can sell it to a street guy as an upgrade if we destroy the car.

It would be like playing dirt 3 on xbox. Your wheels are just always left right or staight.

Do some calculations.

I went with a 1.5 to 1. I now have about 80% steering lock without taking my hands off the wheel (270* driver input). It feels perfect for me on the high speed gravel stages of 100AW and Perryville. Now if I was going to do Sno*Drift, or Ojibwe, I might want a 2:1. However that is why I built the column to be modular. They only cost $130, so if I want faster steering, pull out the column (3 minute job) and spend another 3 minutes swapping out column ratios.

I was trying to simplify the changes. 8:1 ratio is where i like to be on most cars ive driven. Quicker and your like dirt3 slower and I get behind on steering on hair pins and o sh!t moments. Not sure what a quick rack is for ratio. 12:1 seems to come in at about 2 turns lock to lock.

I remeber my first race with a quickener. I was swerving all over the straights to the point my dad asked what was wrong with the car. Once you train your muscles to the new ratio I feel you get smoother.

Power assist affect also helps smooth your driving out. with quicker steering I prefer a little less power steering.
