finally tore out the older steering column. Replaced with a roll bar mounting coleman 1.5:1. Since the seat is moved inward some, the original column was offcenter of the seat. plus the lateral bar came damn close to my hand on the steering wheel. Now that is all resolved!

oiling is all done. Replaced the dented pan with a not dented pan. Also added an oil baffle. Attached and remade some oil lines.

removed the stock pedal assembly that i tried to finagle into a dual master. Just going with a pedal assembly now unless i find a good 84/85 pedal assembly with booster at the junkyard which is doubtful since RX-7s have recently dried up...

some more stuff done. got a stock set of pedals in. Booster and master coming soon. Specifically a Subaru legacy non abs booster since Matt convinced me it was the bee knees. Power steering cooler is mounted, still needs ducted. Other stuff. Etc.

more crap put back in. Subaru brake booster (thanks Matt for the idea), steering is all wrapped up finally. Toyota brake mounts look good.

I may have to copy your oil cooler mounting arrangement.

Ooooh looking good! Did you build your brake mount out of steel? What are you using for rear calipers?

Also what makes the subie brake booster so good?

well here is how the rear brakes turned out. Ideally they should be...good. Or at least decent.

Slightly modified and rearranged disc brake mounts for the front calipers of a toyota pickup circa 1984. rotor hat modified to fit my axle I already had machined to a Saab rotor (thanks JVL!), and a 300mm non-vented rotor for said hat!

At this point, awhile still. Both time and money are sparse.

Ahhh driveshaft was straight forward enough for myself, it just cost way too much. That being said calgary isn't exactly known for lower prices. I bet if I had got it from the states even with the exchange rates it would have been cheaper. Or it would have been aluminum for the price I paid for a steel one.

There is a place in town that only does driveshafts. Used them to cut down a mazda shaft before. I'll probably find a Ford T-5 shaft to have modified to a toyota 8" rear to save a bit of money on things.

Aluminum sounds too fancy for my blood.

Some thoughts on where things are at:

1. I think the lexan windows wont due as is because the won't go down. That seems to be a rule or something. I mean, im not sure how people with slider gets the windows to go down either. but I guess I need to make some type of disconnect so i can get the window down if i can open either door.

2. I really am not happy with where the engine is sitting. One, the stock slant angle thing is making the transmission sit REALLY close to the transmission tunnel. Secondly, the shifter is a mile away. I might make that a weekend project to make mounts on this thing to sit it in right since it solves several issues and I haven't made the driveshaft or exhaust yet.

3. I need to resolve the fuel issues to make it compliant with RA and NASA. Who the hell knows what nonsense ARA will add but not a problem at the moment. Anyway, NASA states may second "spare" pump needs to be mechanically separated. AJ point out that moving a switch IS a mechanical process, but the letter of the law disagrees. So i ll have to replumb things with a valve at the pumps.

4. I still need to get front rotors, then redrill them for the right pattern (4x4.5). In hindsight it would have been smarter to make the rear 5x4.5 then use the factory 5x4.5 front stuff for the larger rotor. but that ship has sailed. Anyway, new rotors, redrilled to correct pattern mean i can finish the damned brakes on this shit basket.
