I've been running the same AP Racing CP8350 Caliper and 11.75x1.25" Rotor on the front of my Impreza this year.

For reference they fit very well under Braid 15x6.5" 43ET Gravel Wheels

I felt they were a huge step up from the ever popular Subaru 4 pot front set-up, also FAR more sustainable.

The consumable parts of the Subaru 4 pot set-up are almost the same price as the consumables from this AP set-up. Actually Subaru 4 pot pads are significantly more for the same pad make/compound. They also last easily 2-3 times as long. You'd be lucky to get 2 events out of a set of Subaru 4 pot pads. I've now run 3 on the AP pads (including one tarmac track event) and the pads are still well above 50%!

I think I may just try bolting up the NSX calipers and the 11" rotors I have and see if they fit.

Then probably will try to find like a Wilwood caliper can perhaps a thicker rotor and see if they will fit. I think the Wilwood stuff will give me more clearance for sure, but will measure.

I found a pretty cool PDF that really just outlines everything you need to do, and with a rally take.

Actually also pretty interesting is that Wilwood makes a bolt-on caliper for Honda/Acuras that use the 262mm rotors. Seems like the kit I mentioned before makes more sense (and for basically the same price) because you get two-peice bigger rotors as part of the kit.

Nice caliper. Exactly the piston sizes that I've seen on Works EVERYTHING bigger than an Escort* on gravel---normal gravel**---normal weight ca 1200 kg cars down to Golves and GSI Kadett/Astra and of course better spec Volvos...

It would be helpful in this crowd to mention PRICE---and size too so more guys see that right stuff in print so they know what to look for, ya know?

Boys these are PROGRESSIVE...leading piston 1.5", trailing 1.625"


I saw one reference just now these retailing for about $330 each.. If that's the case its definitely something for more experienced folks to consider.

I'm going to check with my circle track warehouse on price...


*Escort Group 4 used ex Formula3 4 pots with 4 x 1.5" front and 2 x 2" back---and a real limiter.

**Finland was not "normal gravel", it has always been much higher average speeds....so bigger, and fatter discs and 4 x 1.625 pistons.

Bear in mind that US roads are faster than Finland---see last years WRC Finland on same weekend as WawwyAmewica Maine----winning average at Maine at 80 mph on several stages---by guys not in the same week as the top WRC drivers---who were averaging 73-74mph..

Essex Parts put this kit together for the BRZ. I have been testing the kit for Essex in Gravel and Impreza applications and it's performed fantastically.

$2125 for just the fronts?

I'm in the wrong business.
No wait. I have the wrong clients.


I mean everything looks nice, caliper is good sizes..
But that's nearly 3 times what my Willwood based kit costs for some RWD stuff Voll-ratti.
The question is: is it a measurable difference?
Especially for 99% of the guys who really have no idea how to brake.

I don't think Jeff Ritter wrote that thing right, there's no way a 325mm disc would fit under a rally wheel. You sure you running that kit? Plus that's not the cheap late model disc, those are going to be north of $300.

Making the hats and brackets is not that hard. I made some already for Evo's using that same caliper and late model disc. Its been on Joseph Burkes car since last year. And of course I made it full floating.

Yes, not the 325mm disc. Running the 299mm x 32mm rotor, the link is wrong in the blog.

As I said would have had the bells and brackets made, but had no one to do them at the time. Plus I bolted the kit on one evening and went racing the next day.

for those of us who are stubborn and sticking with 14s, are there cheap roundy-round discs that are smaller, but still usable for a rally car (ie not a 1/4" solid disc)?

I've found a 10.5" wilwood ~1" thick vented that seems like it might work (currently running the DA integra 10.3" setup), just curious what other options are out there. I saw AP has plenty of smaller rotors, but they're not in the "stock car" listing so I assume they're probably $$$.

If you're staying with 14" wheels then its better off just to keep it stock. The only things you'd be able to find are not going to be cheap. IE, its going to be stuff made for 13" wheels, either open wheel cars or some sort of GT light cars. 280mm is the max that fits on 13" wheels but that's in a F3 type wheel, for rally wheels like the MK2 escorts 260 is the norm, now for a 14" you could probably do well with a 280mm disc on some cheap willywood dynalight calipers. Look up their catalog, they have plenty of disc sizes.

We are doing something very similar for VWs to fit under 15" wheels.

Currently this setup clears an OZ Superturismo which does not have great clearance at the barrel bulge 15x7 et43 I think...

Mk2, MK3, Corrado fitment.
11.75" x 32mm rotor Same late-model rotor size Paul is using
Weight 19.5lbs per side (a bunch less than Corrado 11" setup)
Nearly infinite rotor choices from basic $40 to 60-vane directional lightweight J-hook stuff
Can use basic Willwood or super fancy AP caliper with staggered piston bores, etc

brake kit cost, this includes everything but brake fluid.

wilwood calipers, ultralight rotors, street compound - $1250
wilwood calipers, ultralight rotors, track compound - $1325
wilwood calipers, ap rotors, street compound - $1375
wilwood calipers, ap rotors, track compound - $1450
ap calipers, ap rotors, street compound, - $1750
