Tying 4 link boxes to cage question

Do people tie the link boxes to the cage or so they just let them be their own thing?

I could see that the boxes have more contact to the body then any factory mount would ever have, so in theory should be stronger, but they are also pushing and trying to twist in a place that wasn't really designed to be pushed or twisted on.

I chose to make little gussety box things just because it wasn't super far away. I made them out of 24 gauge I think. I don't think they were anything super thick, because of the bends and dimple dies.





Interestingly enough, due to the taper down at the front of my boxes, they were pretty stiff on their own. I wasn't expecting that at all. I'm not sure how the more squared end boxes would behave.
