tie rod end adapter
May 06, 2014 05:26PM
i need something like this.... M12x1.25 female to 1/2 or 5/8-18 female

would be used to couple my metric inner tie rod to a SAE high misalignment rod end since my stock ball joints are limiting my droop.

Any thoughts?

Just remember that you have to have on L and the other R hand thread, otherwise toe adjustment is no fun.
Are both stock tie-rods threaded the same, or is one R and one L?
If you want something fancy, I can turn something on the lathe out of Alu, steel, SS, Ti, just name the material.

Here was my solution for my Celica. 4 plus years, 14K miles, still on the first set of heims. I used the factory female threaded section, bored out the 3/4" coupling nut about 30-40% of the depth to fit the OEM tube diameter, then slipped a small section of reinforcing tubing over the top. I keep meaning to make a spare, but never have and have never needed one.

you don't really need a r and l hand thread on a car with rack steering

if the inner tie rod is a ball joint type

Right you are! Sometimes I over think things when it's late in the day. A machined sleeve that the inner tie-rod threads into one end and the heim in the other is the way to do it. When you need to adjust he toe, just loosen the heim end and spin the inner.
