Converting 05-07 Struts for GC fitment (93-04)

Quick question , JVL probably knows this off the top of his head.

What needs to be done to modify the ears that fit an 05 STI, to make it fit say like a 2000 RS 2.5?


I've got a spare set of STI struts i traded for, and ended up talking to a grass and cone racer who needs new struts, and wants STI ones . If they can be easily convert i was gonna send them to him.

I know the strut bolt holes are further apart on the 05 STI . but is the spacing between the ears the same? i was gonna check last night but totally spaced it. i'm hoping the spacing on the 05 between the ears is the same or wider, as that would be an easy mod for a good welder.

Rears are a direct bolt in. You will need to use GC top hat, and maybe some camber bolts.

Fronts...much more work! The bolt spacing on the ears is larger center to center, and the hub itself is also wider.

Easiest way to be honest, cut off the ears and manufacturer new ones from plate and buzz them on. Or just find someone with 2004 STi or Version 7-8 front struts.

what about using the newer hub on the older car?

Ofcourse, you can...it will bolt up.

But you'll be looking at wheels (unless you redrill the hubs), and i think axles.

Gotcha, was trying to come up with a cheap cheap cheap way to help someone out ...

sounds like he could weld in some plates, and re-drill holes. if he can do that work himself it will work on the cost side of things.

not the easiest solution .. but may be the cheapest for him...
