Selling my DD and sole car for the past four years. Would really like it out of my garage!

Forwarded to my dad who has a Defeat Device TDI Jetta that he either needs to sell back to the VW dealer, or have them do the "fix" that will ruin the mileage and prematurely kill the emissions system. He was talking about getting an older BMW beater...aside from the evil Audi V6, I like this idea better.

They're forcing the issue? You can't just keep the car as is and say fuck it?

not likely, they're too far out of spec to be left out on the roads I bet.

I'm driving the car today, it made me wonder why I bought something new! let me know if you have any questions.

Not sure on the exact details, but the way the car is now, it's known to be in violation of emissions laws, if the state decided to press the issue, it could be failed at inspection time. So VW offers to buy it back for good money, or he gets it "fixed".

He's also overdue to waste money on a car or five for himself.
