Since I ended up scoring a full VWMS ratio gearset from Bacci Romano I am selling off the MTS gears and final drives I have collected along the way. These are all for VW 020 Transmissions. Prices do not include shipping.
$800 - 3rd (1.68:1), 4th (1.35:1), and 5th (1.17:1) gears from MTS Motorsports. These gears along with a standard 1st (3.45:1) and 2nd (2.12:1) make a decent gearset. I can share a spreadsheet showing gear ratios and speed versus rpm, as compared to stock boxes. I ran these gears with a 3.94 final drive and showed measurable improvement on stage times. More information in this thread: http://www.rallyanarchy.com/phorum/read.php?5,106961,page=3. But when the stock second gear stripped out on me I took the opportunity to go full VWMS gears. Full disclosure, these gears were installed when 2nd gear failed. They have some minor burrs on them that I would smooth off if I were to run them again. I can provide detailed photos of the gear teeth if you are interested. Here's the deal I'm willing to make - if you buy these gears I will give you ten days to inspect them. If you are not satisfied ship them back to me and I will return your money. But once they are installed they are yours. I can provide advice on installation. The case will need to be clearanced for 4th and 5th gears. Also, 2nd and 3rd need to be lined up correctly to avoid interference. This is done by shimming the input shaft bearing. 4th gear is sized for an 8v output shaft, which I am also selling below. $150 - 3.94:1 Final Drive (8v). I purchased this final drive from MTS along with the gears above. I found it was a good match - top speed is around 106mph. If you want to go shorter I also have a 4.25 for sale. Same deal, this ring and pinion were in the transmission when 2nd gear stripped, but it appears to be in very good shape. $150 - 4.25:1 Final Drive (8v). This is a 4.25:1 final drive out of an AVX transmission. The open diff is still attached. I can drill out the rivets and remove or sell it as is - same price. Pair with the 3-4-5 gears for a top speed of about 98mph. $300 - 4.81 Final Drive (16v). This final drive was in a 16v transmission that also had stock second gear strip so I am offering the same 10-day inspection deal. Cheap and simple way to improve gearing. Night and day difference compared to the stock 3.67! $50 - Brand new bolt kit Set of studs, nuts and washers to bolt the ring gear to the diff. $75 - 0.75:1 5th Gear This is a fifth gear set out of an AVX. Great for cruising on the highway, but doesn't really have any place in a rally car. Figured I would just mention it here if anyone is looking for it for a street car. I am located in Los Angeles, CA near LAX. Email me at echristiansen@gmail.com. I don't check PMs on here often. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/26/2016 11:19PM by Erik Christiansen. |
