Wish this one was on this side of the pond. A beautiful build, and a beautiful example. Brings back do many memories. My father taught me to drive stick on a 99, that was a rally tribute car with a raised suspension, lights, and skid plates.

No affiliation, just a link to BaT.

Particularly cars that are pointlessly far away and expensive..That 99 is as far as the details shown shows just a stock 99T with a cage and some plates welded on the a arms..and a paint job.
Fapptastic..

I guess to some just the looks is all they give a shit about. No other thoughts. Sad.

What can I say. I'm a child of the 70's, so my loves are the 80's. 80's music. 80's cars. 80's rally cars.

Audi Ur-Quattro, S1 and S2.
Peugeot 205 Ti 16.
Mazda 323 GTX.
Saab 99's.
VW Mark 1 and 2 GTi's.
Porsche 911 SC's and Carreras.

Hell, my weekend car is still my only one I will never sell. And that is a 1990 W126 chassis MB 560 SEC AMG clone, that I built with all OEM genuine AMG bits from two totaled out Coupes. The only way I would ever get rid of it is for a widebody coupe with the 4-cam 6.0 liter. Or a Stramann convertible built from the coupe chassis.

If it was raced on ABC's wide world of sports in really, really grainy TV; or shown on Miami Vice, I'll pretty much buy it...

Oh fawk man... give the guy a break.

I mean the last worthwhile post on here was 9 days ago or something.

I don't facepage or twit... so what do i have, this or special stage?

Fawk.

At least its kinda rally. And as a child of the eighties... SAAB sheet is cool, even if it's a warmed over stock machine with vinyl stripes.

Post some cool builds or shut up...

Oh, I'm going to pick up my first lathe tomorrow... John we gotta talk what I'm doing with those skinny boingers...

If this 99 was in US I'd buy it. Faux-rally car or not. I have a soft spot in my heart for 99. (on my 3rd now) When I first saw Ipswich I was all OMG...OMG...OMG... 40 miles away.... But disapointly its in the other Ipswich, 1,800 miles east of here...

BTW, Daniel, are you from FL or just part of the transplated Club Vero cohort? I ask because I got my first two 99 from a Saab specialty shop down in WPB. Charlie Becket (Becket Motors) If you lived down there in the 70/80s perhaps you knew of him?

Transplanted, Niall. Came down in 93 to finish college at FIT. Born in Boston. Raised in N.H. First two years of college in Maine. Understandably why Rally is my first love of motorsports. Learned to drive stick on a 99 tribute car. First car was an Audi 4000 S 4E Q. First race car was an 83' Rabbit GTi. Spent a decade going to the Climb to the Clouds with my Dad and Uncle. Hard to find anything good Saab related in Florida these days. All post GM ownership stuff or convertible 900S's.

We did not overlap... But, funny similar backgrounds.

I moved from Essex County Ma to Jupiter in '76. Drove back to Mass for (real) collage in '83 in my '74 99LE. (prior to that I had a '72 EMS). In 13th & 14th grade (81 & 82) at Palm Beach Jr. Collage I was part of motorsports club There were some showroom stock class 99Ts that would compete with us at PBIR. Along with a bunch of GTIs and a ton of Le Cars. I ran a '74 Capri with the V6.

Needless to say I'm a historic rally car fan too. In the 70s my father was partners in a European motorsports dealer/shop just outside Boston, so I was exposed to all kinds of strange stuff.

PM me if you want to talk more. I don't want to get banned by John for being too chatty winking smiley

I have the same mod status as you do..Now I have to admit that the whole "some kind of different absurdly overblown title changing every time you post" was my idea and the code to create a random some kind of different absurdly overblown title changing every time you post" generator was all the site owner, Skye's..
