The body is perfect, still has seats in it, no rear window, lots of trim still there. Tan in color. It was there yesterday.

It's the fault of the consumer capaitalist society and the in-dbread need for instant gratification.

Andrew the last 10 Xratties I've seen at this yard and it's sister have al;l be in better shape than my daily driver.

1 in 10 of the nice 240 Volvos has a dent in them.

Fukin crazy.

No idea. All I know is it is a round Saab. Really is a shame, even the seats were nice. The body is like a 9, I bet the paint would shine right up.

No, it is the new cash for clunkers law. You'll never see it on the road again.

My understanding is most of the proposed Federal legislation for "cash for clunkers" involves cars and light trucks less than 25 years old that get get less than 18 mpg, which basically makes the Rally Anarchist service vehicle market now have a floor price of $3,500 or whatever the government handout check is going to be.

There was also something about them being in running condition/registered and one ride per customer, so that rules out me getting $10,500 for the rusty Merkur shell collection. I'm also fairly certain there isn't anything eligible for purchase that I'd want in my driveway, even for cheap money (fuel efficient and "domestic"winking smiley.

The shell in the original post sounds like a good candidate to swap in the drivetrain from JV's green car, which was fairly cancerous (although salvageable if you're ambitious) when I hauled it from my parents' house to Graminal's.

Wanna bet?

"sounds like a good candidate to swap in the drivetrain from JV's green car"

That's what I am thinking!

Its against rules. How do I know? My rally car was.

How do I know?

My rally car doesnt have a VIN number. How do I know? Its not in the system. Why?

PAP "killed" it. My rally car should be crushed right now. Someone fucked up.

This means....

I have a shit ton of paper work to do with the friendly state patrol and need to get my car inspected. Go me. At least I learned.

After 10 years of no registration your title will drop off the DOLs computer,
I have 3 vehicles with "dead" titles, all I have to do is re-register them, and
the titles will be re-issued without a WSP inspection...

Some wrecking yards have dealer licenses and sell cars off the lot. Others such as Gundies have a huge rebuilder business. You can buy a shell from any wrecking yard and rebuild it. Keep the receipts and schedule an inspection.

In the past we had a local wrecking yard that might have been buying some stolen stuff, maybe didn't have all of their paperwork in order and the state finally nailed them. It's worse nowadays and the WSP is a bit more diligent about keeping them in line.
