WTB: Volvo 240 control arms and subframe
July 21, 2009 06:42PM
Anyone have some volvo 240 control arms and a subframe laying around they could ship me? Paypal standing by. Mine got in an argument with a rock and are quite mushed up. I need these sooner rather than later so I can get my car back on the road. Thanks.

Gotta warn you though!
They wont be all rusty, in fact they may have PAINT on them.

Just make sure they're good and rusty.
Speaking of rust, I spent 5 hours yesterday trying to get the yoke off of a driveshaft on a cat 950G. I had to torch away the yoke as close to the splines as I could, the I took an angle grinder and ground a slit even closer to the splines. Then I got the slit red hot and dumped a gallon of water on it. A little teeny hairline crack formed which was enough for me to be able to pull the yoke off with a puller I made. There was much hammering, special tool engineering and re-engineering, swearing, pacing, etc in between all these steps. Fun.

Find anything yet? I've got a couple guys from the turbobricks that claim they have some, so if you dont get a chance to get out to the yard I can go through one of them.

Heres what the subframe looked like when I pulled it off this weekend:

Yeah, what's with not being able to bring your 2.5 year old and your 8 month old to the U-Pull-It? I haven't been inside a boneyard in about a year!

Dooood, call and ask Annoushka about changing the tires on the White car. That was just before she was 4 (She was 4 in March 9).
She "helped" jack the car and do the 'link' nuts and then collect all the old "lunk" nuts and then hand me stuff then lower the car down.
She was so proud.

She's announced, "When I'm a BIG girl like maybe when I'm 5 or 6, then I can help you a LOT MORE!!!"

That's sweet.

Avery is the same way, he has his play tools (or he'll pick up whatever I'm not using), and if I'm working on a car, he'll go around with a wrench or hammer or whatever and "check the wheels" or something like that. He actually did run the jack some when I was disconnecting my utility trailer from the Legacy a few days ago.

This morning he had out his toolbox and announced he had to "fix the drain pipe" in the living room. His toy circular saw (which Miguel Blanco gave me when I had my fun with a real one) was cutting "holes" in the floor in no time, followed by the toy drill, hammer and pliers.

I'm in BIIIIIIIIIG trouble when he's big enough to REALLY take something apart.
