I have two boxes that are for sale and will be available for shipping shortly.
Box number one: 0 Mileage rebuild, AGB (16V case) KAAZ differential, new clutch plates VWMS 16V 4.20 ring and pinion (BIG ASS TEETH, no BS) VWMS main shaft(24mm large mk2/mk3 input shaft spline) VWMS 1-3 gears stock 4k 4-5th gears 1st 2.72 (long, awesome for gravel starts, dropping into first for lower speed corners is easy, 1st gear to 40MPH!) 2nd 2.06 3rd 1.68 4th 1.13 (not too bad of a drop, but the 1.43 VWMS pice would be dope) 5th 0.91 FD 4.20 VWMS 5th 1.26 and machined fifth gear housing included in sale, basically pickup a VWMS 4th setup and it is on like Donkey Kong for the best 020 you can own for the money. Box number two: 0 Mile Rebuild, 4K 8V case 4.25 Ring and Pinion (factory diesel AVX code) Factory 4k code 8v gearing (22mm small spline mk1/2 8v input shaft) -this gearing is pretty good with the 4.25 R&P, 1st is still usable. 1st 3.45 2nd 2.12 3rd 1.44 4th 1.13 5th 0.89 FD 4.25 Can be equipped with either a used Quaife differential or a VWMS clutch-type differential, your choice. I can include used 6 puck sprung hub copper pad discs for either trans, and used light weight flywheels with each. Taking offers on one, both, or parts. -Tom DemonRallyTeam | Fine Tuning | CTS Turbo & RP Turbos | RalleyTuned | JRM | Meister Autowerks Spitfire EFI | Product Apparel | JVAB Imports | NLS | AP Tuning | USRT Add us on Facebook | Next Event: 2013 Olympus Rally June 22-23 Olympia, WA Edited 1 time(s). Sweet gearset. How insane would you have to be to run the 1.26 5th with the 1.13 4th? With the 1.26 5th you will top out around 95mph and I broke that at Prescott this weekend (setting some slow times). It would take some serious muscle memory skills to be able to pull off such a crazy shift pattern on stage though. Good luck with the sale. If I hadn't just rebuilt a box five rallies ago I would be all over this. It is still very tempting... |

Any VW ought to do 7500 rpm and 105 mph is good enough for 99% of the stages. John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! I agree 105mph is good enough. An 8k redline will get you there. |

What would a 1.8L 16v need to get to run 7500 all day? Even more what would it take to get up to 8k? Just wondering since upgrading my VW is one of my 3 upgrade paths to take and the box with 4.25 would need an 8k redline to get everything proper.
What would a VWMS 4th gear cost me? And Tom, I know you were talking about having transmission issues at the first rally with the MK2. Are these the boxes causing problems for you? My OEM 16v trans with open diff sux and I'd be sweet to put this in my car. Just need to figure out how much it will cost me when all is said and done. |

Box One Price:2300obo
Box Two Price:1500obo with quaife, 1700 with VWMS diff I ran my last 2.0L 16V fairly consistently at about 8K RPM with Schrick 276 degree cams. VWMS 4th gear would run around 400-500 and I was able to source one last time I looked from Hans Weiss racing The trans issues we had were entirely related to the shift linkage melting on the car, we ended up killing the syncros on the box by jamming everything since there was no feeling. We were gifted a different trans and I am trying to raise some money by selling these boxes, nothing more. -Tom DemonRallyTeam | Fine Tuning | CTS Turbo & RP Turbos | RalleyTuned | JRM | Meister Autowerks Spitfire EFI | Product Apparel | JVAB Imports | NLS | AP Tuning | USRT Add us on Facebook | Next Event: 2013 Olympus Rally June 22-23 Olympia, WA |

Box two is sold, this bad ass trans is still for sale however:
Box number one: 0 Mileage rebuild, AGB (16V case) KAAZ differential, new clutch plates VWMS 16V 4.20 ring and pinion (BIG ASS TEETH, no BS) VWMS main shaft(24mm large mk2/mk3 input shaft spline) VWMS 1-3 gears stock 4k 4-5th gears 1st 2.72 (long, awesome for gravel starts, dropping into first for lower speed corners is easy, 1st gear to 50MPH!) 2nd 2.06 3rd 1.68 4th 1.13 (not too bad of a drop, but the 1.43 VWMS pice would be dope) 5th 0.91 FD 4.20 VWMS 5th 1.26 and machined fifth gear housing included in sale, basically pickup a VWMS 4th setup and it is on like Donkey Kong for the best 020 you can own for the money. tops out at ~105mph at 7500 rpm with the VWMS 5th gear This gearset is totally underrated and awesome, they wanted $4500 for just the gearset when new....add the diff, add the ring and pinion, add the trans rebuild and custom machine work, you are in the neighborhood of $7000 for new stuff. yours for just $2300...I have something around $3700 into the gearbox with all the new parts I bought for it and the fresh rebuild. -Tom DemonRallyTeam | Fine Tuning | CTS Turbo & RP Turbos | RalleyTuned | JRM | Meister Autowerks Spitfire EFI | Product Apparel | JVAB Imports | NLS | AP Tuning | USRT Add us on Facebook | Next Event: 2013 Olympus Rally June 22-23 Olympia, WA |
