Cleaning out the shed and I found another stack of XR wheels.

I'm down to just one XR4. Since it has big brakes on the front, these won't fit. I already have plenty of wheels that do fit, so these are super-duper excess inventory.

Alloy wheels are going for $1 a pound at the scrap yard according to my friend who just dumped a Jetta last week.

Pictures:

This is one of the nastier looking wheels.

So yes. some of these wheels will need a little attention before being run, paint chipping, oxidation, etc. are to be expected.

Five of the six have round rubber things on them that sometimes hold air. Three are Nokia 165 R 15 Hakkapelliita (if that's spelled right, it's a miracle) NR09 snows of VERY dubious origin, the other two are Old School 195 60 Pirelli P6's that look like they have a case of Firestone tread separation in their very near future. I can't guarantee straightness on all these wheels, but I bet they're OK. Take all six, you'll certainly have a good set of four! Center caps....hmmm....three on the wheels, I probably have a fourth in the cellar....yep, and a fifth and a sixth as well.

Here's what I'm thinking. All six, five with "yard" tires, $50. Cheap. If I have to take care of tire disposal, $75. Basically the same money as scrap (figure these wheels are 13 lbs. or so, costs me $5 a tire to dump at the local recycling center, I have access to a tire machine).

If you think I've imbibed too much Guinness from the sale of my 86 caged shell, make me an offer, but I can't go much lower without being less than scrap metal [which is probably what I should have done with the shell ]!

These are in southern New Hampshire. Shipping will be more that the wheels base cost, so you should probably be semi-local.

If I haven't scared everybody away, email me andrewsteere at tds dot net.

Doooooooooooood! I'm pretty sure these tires are Mike White castoffs...they have to be 20+ years old. But the tread actually looks pretty decent..just afeard of KABLOOIE Ford Exploder rollovers and things of that nature. winking smiley

If you're serious, I can get them dismounted. Fedex Home Delivery is looking like $50 for a 25x25x18 donut coast to coast. Who hasn't left for Olympus yet?

ya know Mike, seriously, I just read your words and surprised myself with the biggest sigh I've sighed in a long time....

And believe it or not there's a little catch in my throat, but I have to agree after all the fun those tires have brought me:

Leve Hundrasextifemma Nr09!!!

That was good for a laugh this morning. And it's Nokia, not Nokian, these are proper vintage tires.

John or Mike, should I be getting out the tire irons (or heading for the Tedneck Tire Center) for either of you?

They do look better than a tire this old should...
