"Needs rocker panels and body work"

Yeah, I'll bet it does.

I think he's meaning the tupper-ware junk on the side of the car which is missing which ironically enough captures shit and hold dampness and contribute massively to sill rot.

I've always wondered about the sanity of that practice.. but have come to the conclusion that it was done for two reasons. A) cheaper better looking chip resistant sills and cool smiley hides the rust, even though it adds a whole new rust mode.

You're likely right, but it's hard to say how much they aide in the rust process. Nearly no one keeps up on rock chips and it's not like bare rockers have any trouble rusting.

Did the ford exploder come with plastic crap on the rockers? When I think of rotten rockers that's the first vehicle that comes to mind.

JVL:

I 'member an xr4ti being built on with pics on this site that had all kinds of ugly cancer under the plastic rocker panels and in the floor. I can't imagine that a canook car doesn't have massive rust.

Actually Wilson it all depends.
MANY sat for long stretches dead cause imbecile mechanics would tell people there ain't no parts for them foreign jobs...so the car sat. and got ratty.

Just never can tell.
Granted more than 10 years has p[assed since i was out in the NE so.....

but who knows where cars come from, many Xratty pervs will travel to the "below the salt line" to fetch home fresh cars.
Even Volvo pervs have been know to travel to get rust free cars...

Knock wood we don't salt the world down here...
