XR Rally Parts
January 17, 2007 08:08PM
My (upcoming) street car has little use for some of these rallycar leftovers, so I'm curious if anyone here is interested. Most are from JVAB in Seattle, so they come with very verbose telephone support. Prices in USD, shipping not included:

Brakes:
-------
US Brake Ford WRC Replicas. 11.25 x 1.25, custom CNC machined (and anodized) brake hats. Will bolt on to Sapphire hubs, should fit XR after drilling out mounting ears and tapping. Will fit under some 15" wheels, may have to clearance the caliper a tad. Includes hardware (no lines).

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i124/rwsrally/JVAB%20Asylum/big_brakes_and_stuff0002.jpg

Hats - $75
Rotors - $115
Calipers - $350
Hardware - $10

Front Hubs:
-----------
Sapphire 2wd knuckles and matching TCAs. Bigger bearing, threaded big caliper mount point. Above brakes bolt right on.

$150 for the pair

Motor Mounts:
-------------
Weld to chassis rail to solidly mount it there, and not on the crossmember. Sheetmetal fab is 95% done, just gotta bend a couple more lips and then weld on. Includes rubber, uses XR head bolts for attachment.

$150 for it all

Skid, Tow and Jack Points:
--------------------------
Copies of FoMoSpo arrangement. Fronts work in conjunction with a seperate cross piece to form the front edge for sump guard, then the big brace under the pullies to take the brunt of impacts. Rear pieces go on modified bumper. Some braketry and fiddling appears to be required to fit these.

$250 for it all

Misc:
-----
* Cossie FPR, $20

* Saab lift pump (good for fuel cell), $20

Ted its adjustable but probably not that low, it is for in the 3 bar pressure range.

Thanks jon.

Any ideas on what to run for a FPR? I think the stock VW fuel pump runs at 60 psi and the carbs need to be around 6?

Sent you a PM.

I am probably going to be too broke to pay rent come April, but who looks that far ahead and I can always go work more nights at the sushi bar until then.

Hey Patrick, did you ever compare the hubs to the stock XR? I've seen the Cossie ones use a shorter strut, but never was sure how the non-Cossie one were.

Did you sell all this stuff yet?

No, I did not do a side-by-side.

Some is gone, still holding on to brakes, hubs and skid stuff. I guess it could just go on the street car, wouldn't have to worry about spring's pot holes that way...

Hey, I just had an idea. It's about $150 to fly from Toronto to Denver. There's a XR here for sale with 142K, sunroof, and 5 speed. But, probably no rust. Then you could come and do the rear big window finish for me since I'm feeling a bit intimidated by it.

I am enjoying being relatively (merkur) stress-free for the moment. Finally got rid of about 50% of my 'street' spares, and am trying to find a way to get rid of all the damn doors and hatches I have hidden behind my shed.

Though a rust-free XR does sound tempting...

Ford is 4 on 4.25" circle, Misterbitchy is 4 on 4.5" circle.
The things can be drilled again and then its a question f the caliper bolt spacing.

I know the ears are very widely spaced on the Gaylant, and that would mean some sort of spacer maybe.
But hard to say with certainty without the knuckles and stuff in hand.

I was thinking about this today, as some of this is still available. I am in the process of finishing my application to med school, so it's looking like no free time for the next 7 years. Maybe more of the stuff I was saving for a street car as well, more details to follow when I get home from work.

On the other hand, the bank now wants to give me a line of credit big enough to buy a house with (since they love professional students), so who knows....

Still have brakes, suspension, and skid mounts sitting in my basement collecting dust. All boxed up and ready to go.

JohnV, if you find someone to buy this stuff I'll pay a finder's fee - I have no idea who is building what these days and have a large bill to settle up with at school by the end of October.
