Gravel Rally Tires for every budget
November 10, 2013 12:35AM
Rocky Mountain Autosports has gravel rally tires for every racer's budget. Starting at $129, Black Rocket tires are great for the club racers. Sizes range from 13"-15" in 165-205 widths. For more serious racers we carry Pirelli K, Reinforced K and KM tires only in 15" in 175 - 205 widths. We will also be stocking Scorpion and XR tires when they become available.

looks like black rocket has a 215/55-16 gravel tyre

has anyone tried them?
why are they not recommended for high hp open cars on stage rallies?

I would rather drive a slow car fast as a fast car slow!

It would take about a month to order Black Rocket 16" tires since we do not stock them (low demand). The 16" only come in "medium" compound. We did not recommend the "medium" compound 15" tires we tested for Open Class cars due to the softness of the rubber that wore faster on hard packed surfaces than what we expected. Probably fine for a soft compound tire on 2 or 3 stages. We have had customers use these "medium" compound tires without complaints. So maybe it is just the Colorado soil. Good news is we had Black Rocket produce a "hard" compound rubber that we find to be a great improvement in hardness. Excited to get some feedback once these start getting used.

Pirelli has had a price increase for 2014. If you call soon, we may have some sizes still available at the old price. See the RMA website for more details.

Don't voluntarily make your whole life difficult when there is no reason to.
Plenty of fun and excitment can be had with 15" wheels.
And ordinary width tires.
