the competitors involved that showed they didn't really want to spend $1200+ on a set of special order rally tires. (in other words, how could we ask a 'clubbie' to spend what they'd spend on two local events on JUST a set of tires for one event.)

Yokohama A034 are 235 or so a tire so the difference is what, $100 for the studs?

But Rocket Rally and RallySport don't sell anything but the A034 so why not make the rules such that they make that the best tire for the conditions? smiling smiley

And most of the cars at the regional level are running Kumho winter tires, not the AO34s, which don't work as well on ice as a 'street' winter tire and they wear out quicker than 'street' winter tires when the stages get down to the gravel/dirt.

Plus, once you start ripping out studs on a 'WRC' studded tire they go off really quickly, so it is more likely they will be a '1 event' tire.

But why let common sense and facts get in the way of a conspiracy theory.

Was there a conspiracy theory?
There was no common sense or facts listed in your post either. A little anectdotal description of difference between two tires and a likely unsubstantiated opinion.

Hey Adam, did you rip out a bunch of studs in your WRC tires when you ran Big White?

Yes, studs were ripped out when I drove the car up the 'cheese grater' ramp into the back of the van.
But no, the tires were used for at least 2 big white events. in addition to ice racing.

and the studs were installed after the tires (6 of them) had been used for rally cross in dry oregon.

at this point i'd only put 2 of the 6 back on the car, but they are ~6yrs old. I'll take pictures.
