Only two sources for that stuff.
Quaife(Everything but the Diff) and M-Factory I don't think there are any Focus rally cars in the US that are running boxes like that. Most don't even have clutch difs, let alone any final drive higher than 4.02:1. I know the horror. |

Andrew ..don't you remember our other Andrew here(and on Focaljet) that rallies a Focus? Juggernaut motorsports. He's got the mfactory final drive and close ratio set..but a kaaz plated diff..here's his review: http://forums.focaljet.com/shift/668261-review-mfactory-mtx75-4-75-fdr-3-5-close-ratio-set.html Also there are a few plated diff options for the mtx-75: http://forums.focaljet.com/shift/663892-yet-another-lsd-option-mtx-75-gripper-available-now.html ................................................. ..................... Yeah Kuligowski... We're working together first on suspeders and I's been advising him now on motor stuff. Turns out he scored a way bitchin head and cams and was told by the dud that sold it the cames are "Like waaaaaaaaaaaay too radical ---and stuff. Can't rally with them" He got me the timing and lift and details and it was hilarious: they were nearly identical to what I use in the old V4 and have build dozens and dozens of street motors and they pull like a truck as long as you get the comp up to at least 10.8--which was the standard deal I'd do on cast iron heads for road cars...11.3 on the rally car and with a pent-roof chamber and alloy head he can certainly do 11.6-11.8.. I told him the biggest problem when building engine was getting n.a. guys to go hot enough and to get turbo guys to go mild enough... He's doing good, too. I think 4th overall at his last regional...now just gotta convince him not to smash into too many boulders John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! That is indeed me that you're all speaking of! Yes I have the 3-5 close ratio and 4.75fdr from MFactory in the car. With only stock power it does pretty darn well but I'd love to see it with some real torques behind it. Also run a KAAZ plated diff which is what I'd recommend.
To correct you John it was 6th O/A but missed 4th by 11sec. We lost about 25 on basically a warm up first stage but it is what it is. We took 1st O/A 2wd and 1st 2WD open at LHFR as well as the 6th O/A. Last weekend at Black Bear we took 2nd O/A, 1st 2WD O/A and 1st 2WDO beating/fighting with at least one open 4wd car on their clean runs and besting a production 4wd wrx who is usually pretty quick and always smooth. Great couple results. Looking to do it again in August at GCFR! I'll be calling you soon John. We have $ and control arms to talk about . Oh and our second team car which runs the same setup took 3rd O/A 2wd and 3rd 2WDO at both events as well. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 07/18/2014 12:33AM by JuggernautMotorsports. |

Oh and Riley I know you are just posting this wanted ad in case someone has some Quaife or other stuff just sitting around they want to unload-hey it could happen....I've seen a couple people over the years offer up close ratio sets and plated diffs for Foci..
BUT..if you don't get any responses I wouldn't have my heart set on 4.25 or 4.5 final drives.. Quaife(4.25 and they don't sell it seperately from their $$$$ close ratio set), Focus central and capaldi racing (4.5 )IIRC are/were the manufacturers for these ratios. Capaldi doesn't make them anymore and FC is defunct years ago. Very difficult to find stuff. Although they probably aren't a short enough ratio for your needs, you are more likely to find the now discontinued Ford 4.06's(try the focus forums). I bought my set new from Ford at $138 right before they were discontinued. If you need shorter the only available I know of right now are either the mfactory mentioned above at $599(maybe a dealer would discount-I dunno?): http://www.teammfactory.com/final-drive-gears_61 Or...a guy from the Netherlands posted on Focaljet a couple years ago that his shop was making close ratio sets, dog box gears and final drives for MTX75. The Focaljet Vendor Massive Speed System picked up his line-here's the $615.00 Final drive(looks like you can choose your ratio): http://www.massivespeedsystem.com/aangepastbak_nl/aangepastbak_final_drives/mcdlaangfd/i-1886898.aspx Now Massive is a good vendor that I've dealt with, but I don't know anyone who has bought this aangepastbak stuff so do some research first if you go that route.... ................................................. ..................... Lets start a thread and lay out the various stock box and final drive combinations in some sorta table format so the combos are clear. 1st: box x final =, there's enough interest that laying it out would be good. Sounds good... as a start...maybe we could utilize some of the info from the below link. It includes pre 2005 and post 2005 mtx75 ratios(first gear ratio change) and mt285(svt 6-speed box) stuff happens to be on there too......not that we need that right now...... http://forums.focaljet.com/shift/557126-gear-chart-getrag-ratios-mtx-75-gear-ratios-optional-axle-ratios.html ................................................. ..................... Yep, I am aware of the Juggernaut car Great build. Awesome results. And if I had to pick the M-Factory stuff is by far the best option for a Focus transmission for someone on a reasonable budget.
My point was that there are likely no one that has used parts laying around since there are very few people running them and he needs to goto the manufacturer to get them. |
