Oakes I don't know where you have become such an expert---you aren't---but here's the results
Bobyns drive in a nice old Golf was good, but the OVERALL placing was pretty much a whole buch of cars ahead DNFing---and then he himself doing same...

Your point?

Your point is clearly willful naysaying..attempted out-googling..
poor show, ol' boy.

How about you stop insulting all of us?
Are you suggesting you've 'done more' as a rally driver (or event as a 'sponsored' driver/rider) than apc has?

Should we compare wikipedia pages?

Nice to see we're on a wrong last name basis.
I can't help but think that if they had been in a Volvo, Xratty, or being shaken up on green boingers you'd have been singing their praises.
I don't pretend to be an expert in the sport... but, the results are fairly easy to follow. (They have a nice presentation of the results that shows stage on one side and total on the other)
http://cscc.ab.ca/Radium/2015/Results/event1/stagedetail/l1s1s5.html
Bobyn was second overall after two stages
http://cscc.ab.ca/Radium/2015/Results/event1/stagedetail/l2s1s5.html
Overall lead after 4, ahead of the eventual winners and only 4 DNFs from 25 starters.
awesome result for the brothers I think!!
Literally driving the tires off the car, from what I gather.
Not what I'd dismiss as 'a whole bunch of cars DNFing' - but what do I know?

.

Hey Oakes, didn't claim to have "done more" as a rally driver.
NOBODY in North America has made a living at driving rally..
Nobody.

And by what measure is one thing somebody "doing more' vs another?
Simple results?
Is that all that matters...

I made a good living driving in a different and much harder sport...
And built and modded and maintained the race vehicle and the service rig and the suspension myself...paid the rent, bought vans and cars and airline tickets.
Was paid to START..

Rally is a hobby..a hobby I began some years after retiring from that other sport..

Perhaps it is your complete noobness that explains your complete naivety and you embracing of the conventional "wisdom" which really is a bunch of hype..
That may explain that but I am still at a loss to understand your arrogance and keyboard aggressiveness.

Whatever.
Hows your car search going?
Got a plan yet?

I don't do "texting". Or tweets, or Facebook Or really "PMs"..
email if far away yeah but prefer phone..

.You know the inflection and tone thing so missing here. Isn't the Phone in my signature?

or for a phone number I guess a PM but email is better cause I can search email..

Oh that Taisto. We met yeahs ago at some Divisional in Shelton and drank a lotta beer and he told us about how he figured he could win the event overall in his old 3 cylinder 850 Saab 2-stroke.
I'd done a 4th overall with my V4 thing, he'd been spectating and I believed him..
Many were skeptical.. nearly 20 years later he wins 2wd at the BC thing....
I still believe he could.

Maybe we can talk him into the later MkIII diff. it mounts differently but thats mainly zaaaap zap.

Don,

Using the results from last week's radium rally in your argument is a flawed strategy. Look at the times for stage 2 and you will see why. Due to an incident, the majority of the field was given an identical dummy time. For many front running 4wd cars this equated to loosing in the neighbourhood of a minute to those who were not impacted by the incident. Many of the front running 2wd cars were not hampered by this and suddenly found themselves way up the overall leaderboard.

The Bobyn's were doing very well and kudos to them, but without that incident I doubt they would have gotten any higher up than 5th overall (which itself would have been a great accomplishment).

Once again you are struggling with your chip on the shoulder and Google to prove something.

And you simply don't know what is being referred to.

That is why you insult.

And since you're a noob a AE86 is a REAR wheel drive car. think its the same car as Grochowski and Junilla won in
Same REAR wheel drive car..

But then again they're Finns and everybody knows Get Finnish to finish first.

And not sure but I did do suspension for a couple of AE86s up there a loooooooooooong time ago, so maybe thats another win for JVAB Soooper Bitchin Suspenders.

Final try Don: quit trying to prove whatever you're trying to prove..
You aren't even a noob yet...Try and realise that and show some respect for people who have been supporting rally on a daily basis for 30 years....

Or get a car and prove what a hero you are.

So on a more important point related to this topic. What is the plural of Yaris. If several of them showed up at an event?

Yari, Yarises, or is it like Moose where it is its own plural?????

Also, for those with eco-boost money I am sure this will be available soon grinning smiley

And a additional note to Not-Even-a-Noob-Yet Oates:
Taisto is a lifetime good driver.
The fact that he in his 70s and can make a good result in a yaris--or a RWD Corolla says something about the field as much as it says he's good.

Much like the much Ballyhood Sprongl in a Suzuki result...

it was snow. HP means nothing in snow.. Less is more in fact.

Go Google 1996 RAC aka Rally Wales WRC
199 entries. 102 turbo 4wd cars in GpA or Gp N

3rd overall in a field we can assume safely was just a little bit larger and deeper than a little North American 'National" was a 1.6 8v fwd Skoda driven by a guy who was winning WRC events since before the WRC had the WRC title status, Stig Blomqvist...

I know and am friends with his former business partners and I spoke to him a couple of years after that event---he did win the event overall a few times and for me, notably in 1971 in a Saab 96 V4 in nearly the same spec--and with heads by the same guy---as i drove..
The 1996 event was snow from beginning to end. Much like the '71 event.
RAC bans studs

3rd overall in a 1.6 8v

I asked him what he thought. he said "Näääää that was no big deal"

Me "there were 102 turbo 4wd cars ya know and you beat nearly every one. and it was snow"

Blomqvist "äsch! that's not so important in snow"

I know what he means....he means "make no mistakes and be mindful of the gas and brakes"

Sprongl was good---and good enough..in a land of blind men a one eyed man id King..

But again it is more a comment about the thinness of the fields and the modest level...

Just look at how EVEY North American so called "hero" has done in the "Dubya Arsey" adventures..including all the Canadian sorties and the US guys playing with their Fiestas..
Nothing..
Soberingly nothing..

Or, they have not even DARED to enter a event anywhere else....because they know they would face competition spending the same sorta dough as they do, but there'll be 90-120 of them--and they'll do like the other guys do; upper half of the lower 1/3 of the field.

Quit trying to out-Google me.
