I have a simple question for you city slickers. If you live in a big city and don't have a nice 2-Car garage, where do you work on your rusted POS?

I just wanted to know. What if I wanted to store parts? I might be moving from home, and I might need a place to work on shit when I get a car.

Just don't rent whatever the fook JV did in Stoneham/Winchester/Arlington/whatever hellhole bit of Massholetwoshits that was part dance studio, part S&M torture den, part machine shop, and had more building code violations per square foot than a Bangladeshi garment factory. I still cringe at how whenever you wanted to use anything electrical in that place you had to jam some bare wires together in some bizarre backfeed arrangement.

1. Take "auto tech" as a career.
2. Find employment at a shop owned by a motorsports enthusiast.
3. Play with other peoples' race cars all day and then get to use the shop during down-time and on weekends.

Bonus: "I need to go racin'" is a perfectly valid rationale for requested time off, no questions asked.

Some storage facilities have power and work for car stuff. Small airport hangers can sometimes be rented for that purpose also. There was at least one body shop running out of a hanger at our local tiny airport.

the place where 2 times I had other tenants call the landlord when I picked up the dozens of sacks of rubbish the scum Masshole pigs were too lazy to throw in the dumpster and put them in the dumpster... One particularly repellant pig-snouted POS was too fat to waddle the 20 paces to the dumpster so he sent a young guy over to act tough who said "Yeah, like who are you and what are doing here?"
Me (first very quietly to the guy so he could hear but the old pig couldn't) "I'm a tenant on the other side and I'm throwing out junk the previous tenant abandoned, and trash left all around my place outside. Did that pig send you over to act tough?"
Yep
"Ok, don't take it personal, this is for your boss"

then louder " Not to be toooo rude but what does it look like I'm doing? Why I'm a tenant on the other side and I can't get to the dumpster because all the nice Massholes are all too fat, old and lazy to put these sacks of shit in the dumpster...Makes you wonder if the scum are so lazy if they can exert themselves to wipe their asses---does your boss call you do do that?"

I'd been there for 6 months.

Landlord comes around and whines that they complained. I explained I didn't like POS Massholes getting suspicious about what was obvious...The pig watched me--and I think you too---throw piles of bags into the dumpster, what the hell did it look like I was doing? I was doing what they rarely did, and I should get a compliment, and they, disgusting lazy and sloppy pigs they were should get scolded"

Never saw such a disgusting collection of self-centered, insular, suspicious and lazy humans anywhere I've been in the world

I rent a garage in the ghetto. It's quite large (24x24 at least) and has a parking spot next to it that I can park the trailer on. $175 per month, including unlimited electricity and natural gas.

Worth it's weight in gold, I could probably sublet one bay our for $150/month, and it's made basically all of my racing in the past 12 months possible.

That's exactly what I was thinking... don't park anything outside, and don't bother locking the door, they steal your stuff anyway but this way you don't need a new door too.

When I was in school I rented and worked out of a big storage unit.
