Liquid Nitrogen Death Ray
January 21, 2007 10:14AM
Ok, I'm ready for the JVAB DeathRay. Where is it?

The 900 is up on the rotiserie and last nights round of wire-wheeling was so horrible it had the Rasta guys living upstairs complaining and wondering where all the smoke was coming from.

Enough is enough.

Assuming I can convince the local Air/Gas guys to deliver me a nitrogen tank, how does one construct this death ray?

I've searched here, SS and JVAB.com and can't find any pictures.

Cassidy...you want in on this? That Xratty has to have some of the same Devil's Poo sprayed on it's underside as this Swedish POS.

Shouldn't have even bothered in the first place.
You guys are going to have to start trusting me-----one day.

I mean YOU have seen the results Mike.

There's a big deposit if you're not a customer. But you can open an account in minutes.
Open the account and lie thru your teeth, you do lots of car prep, and you need LOTS of welding supplies.
THEN LATER you come back and ask about the 220liter "dewars" and tell them this is for freezing off rubberized undercoating, be honest here.

Oh BUY a $6 arc welding chipping hammer, paint in Kawasaki Green.

Give 'em books, send them to school, and what do they do???

The underside of the Xratties are literally slathered with deep DEEP dollops just where you really worst want to weld, in the places the rear beam bolts in.

You should also check for companies in your area which do cryo, for things like pipeline repair, shrink fitting etc. In Toronto we have a company called Nitrogen Services which set me up with a 260L dewar, 6 feet of hose, and a nice crushed copper pipe applicator. Cost $1 per litre, Canadian, for everything and a week's rental.

Even _I_ have a "cash" account at Airgas. I go in, hand them spent cylinder and Visa card, they give me full cylinder

Maybe we need to convince JV to share the secret components of the death ray gun and construct an East Coast version. You and Cassidy need it, and I should really finish off the wire wheel and scraper fest on my shell, then get good and drunk and sawzall the cage out.

Looking at the picture, looks like a trip to the big orange box would probably get what you need. Any tricks?

Copy that Fiasco. Tell you what though...you, me and Eduardo will get drunk and we'll heckle and throw empty's at Brett while he Saw-Saws the cage out.

Brother Dave looked at the cage pics and said "You've got way to much fucking metal back there man."

Thoughts?

Making your own death ray is easy. Mine was just a length of copper pipe with an end flattened in a vice to make it kinda a fan. I put some foam pipe insulation over it (john has expanded metal) and it worked like a charm.

The hard part is finding the flex pipe and fittings to adapt it to the pipe. My supplier made this up for free and included it in my deposit. I shudder to think what it may actually cost.

Dave is so used to that Echo, anything more substantial seems wasteful to him. There may be an extra bar in there, but hey, I think it might actually have enough tubes to meet tomorrow's RA rules.

I think it might be fun to borrow one of those 14" Makita/Dolmar cutoff saws from work and get the effed up parts of my cage out really quick!

http://www.mytoolstore.com/makita/dpc7311l.jpg

Takes about 15 seconds to go through a 2" trailer hitch bolt. Outstanding.

Started a Golf... Never Finished It

Re: Liquid Nitrogen Death Ray

well after another 6 hours of chipping off junk, I can finally say that the golf is 99% clean (just one for crack I need to fish it out of)

And man, if I ever need to do another one, the death ray will be my friend.

Just send some address and I can send it out.
We'll just call it more "mentoring".

John-
I know I can be a <littttle> stuborn sometimes, and have no short-term memory, but the mentoring is always welcome.

Send Death Ray to:

C/O Know Technology
39 Mechanic Street
Suite 310
Camden, ME 04843

Andrew, If that Makita/Dolmar thing has a blender attachment it's a must have.

Thought I was done with the black-lung from Sat, until I sneezed out a Black-Booger-of-Deat this morning. And no, I did not take a picture of it.

Is it just me or does this death ray bear a striking resemblance to a fire extinguisher?

The local air/gas guys can make available a 500 POUND tank of the stuff for pretty short money. Tank rental and gas is probably somewhere around $150.

Their question was how was I gonna get it onto the car. Their "cryo hoses" are usually only 18-24in long. What have you guys had made or pieced together to make this work?

Since I ain't gonna be rolling a 500lb tank around I'm thinking I need at least 20feet...which they say may be so long the Nitrogen will gas in the line.

Thoughts?

I think you have to go for the "put tank on dolly and make the neighbors think you're setting up a meth lab" approach.

You think way too much IN ADVANCE which isn't thinking, with no data, its merely fantasy.
Stop thinking in advance.
The past is a memory, the future but a dream, only the present is real

Mike you just have to wait till the Death Ray Gunâ„¢ arrives.
The tanks have nice grab rails arund the top, you simply tilt and roll on the edge while tipping and balancing.
No problem, quit snivelling compoooter boy!
