Pin mount stands
April 01, 2013 08:22AM
Working on making some pin-mount stands for Dan's integra. Had a few questions for those who either have, or have made them.

Essentially, we discussed making them a 2-D triangle for easy stacking in the truck, as opposed to a 3-D pyramid shape. Looking at other cars, its hard to tell if there is any angle off perpendicular the stands use or if they are just a 90 to the ground.

Tubing wise, I was just goin gto use 1.5 DOM. We have the solid rod to go into the car (which already had the mount provisions made)

90 degrees to the car/ground, and a simple triangle is waht we made. To pount the pin to the stand we made one of the sides long, drilled the correct size hole for the pin in the long tube, then notched the short side to join it just bleow that point so the hole was entered o the triangle.

We used 1.25" square tube - made the cutting and welding of the angles a bit easier. Here is one in the middle of construction waiting for us to weld on the nut tray...

And here they are in use on the car...

Just make sure they are not so tall above the pin that you can't open the door - ask me how I know.

Edit: Using the jack you're most likely to be using, measure how high you can comfortably get the car to determine the optimum pin stand pin height. Bear in mind you might be jacking/standing on soft surfaces. We have a large strip of road sign aluminium that we use under the jack and 4 smalller pieces to put under the pin stands when on soft surfaces.

make them tall enough that you can fit under the car on a creeper. OR just weld a pin to a regular jack stand... they self adjust as you jack up, we use 5 ton ones cuz the base is bigger.

I be sorry as a muthafucka I did, still sorry I did n' hustled ta peep what tha fuck I holla'd a lil' bit better, or at least try to.
