So, let's say that a "national" competitor is one who has competed on both coasts. So for RA, that would mean they've done either (NEFR or STPR) AND (Oly or OT).
Here's the entire list of "national" drivers: Adam Yeoman Art Gruszka Cameron Steely David Higgins Garry Gill James Robinson Lauchlin O'Sullivan Nick Roberts Pete Fetela Steve LaRoza Troy Miller Chris Duplessis David Sterckx Jeff Seehorn Ramana Lagemann Tracey Gardiner That is all 16 of the "national" competitors in the entire country. This is a more generous definition than the number of drivers who did the entire RA national series (just five of them). Or even the list of racers who almost did them all, but missed just one event. There were five of those too. (Meaning that a total of 10 people did EITHER 7 OR 8 events.) So for 16 drivers there are now 5 classes. If Roberts really does go to run Canada next year... that means means EVERYONE CAN GET TROPHIES! ![]() Just keep that in mind as far as the importance of any of the usual winter machinations... "national" stuff affects approximately just four percent of the drivers in this country. For 96 percent of the drivers it won't have much of an effect one way or the other. But will there be SO MUCH interest in the new class that they'll eventually have to break it out into NLO-Pro and NLO-Am?????? Cause I've heard that Vin Diesel and Justin Bieber are already thinking about entering. ![]() Anders Grassroots rally. It's what I think about. |

Maybe there will soon be a new "Ultra-Super Production" class that will finally bridge the gap between Super Production and National Limited Open.
But seriously, my guess is that all but 3 or 4 "Open" class cars already fall into the NLO class so why didn't they just revise the Open rules and let those 3-4 competitors change their cars --- these are the same competitors that have new fresh shells every season or so (sometimes more frequently)... ____________________________________________________________- One. That's only for the new & improved stupor production...I read as though in a real open class (Open, Open Light, G2, & G5), that there is no requirement for engine and chassis mfgr to be related. Did I miss something? Dave Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/03/2015 05:05PM by DaveK. |

Yes, those classes already expressly state the same exact thing.... ____________________________________________________________- One. Class -- 2WD www.quantumrallysport.com http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/pages/Quantum-Rally-Sport/281129179600?ref=nf |

Ok, so I didn't go re-read the full rule book, but if they're striking the part below: "but, in vehicles entered in National Championship rallies, it must be derived (at least the engine block) from a product line offered by the manufacturer of the vehicle." ...doesn't that now mean engine swaps are allowed and don't need to be derived from mfgr? So its sounds like people didn't like having one or two cars finishing first overall due to a gap in preparation?
